Good enough and not too expensive.

This thing is a bit better than it looks. It looks fairly resistant, folds up, and is light enough to carry around. It seems to me that it would be strong enough to take the weight of anything that can be lifted onto it by hand, so long as the weight is applied directly from above, evenly spread and not dropped from a height. It needs to be set up on fairly level and even ground. It is designed so that the two "X" shaped supports can be set up different distances from each other so that one sawing gap is smaller than the other. That allows wood as short as 11 inches to be supported. There are also extra holes drilled in useful places, such as at the top. That would allow a bar or chain to be fitted if desired above the log and across it. That would hold one end of the wood down so that the other end can protrude a long way without tipping over, which avoids having to keep putting the saw down and moving it. If necessary, the unused holes near the bottom of the horse could be used to fit an extension so that the horse doesn't tip over instead when sawing in that way. I haven't yet bashed my hand on any of the fairly sharp metal ends at the top, but when I do it won't half hurt. It will remind me that I should have been wearing proper gloves (not cloth ones) anyway.

Sort of in between positive and neutral. I didn't expect very much for my £23.99 and didn't get very much. No matter how many times you put the thing

Sort of in between positive and neutral. I didn't expect very much for my £23.99 and didn't get very much. No matter how many times you put the thing together it has a twist in it, open and folded , it looks as though it should have some spacers with it for where the bottom rails cross over. The metal is about as thin as could be to allow it to stand and i'll probably re drill and re fit the angle rail above the horizontal one to remove the twist.Read full review

Ideal, but...

My second. I made few modifications to make it safe for me. No instructions. Not that difficult tho. Needs two chains on bottom to stop the legs parting under weight, there are bolt holes already. Make a wooden or rubber domed cap on each top, using bolt holes already there. That'll stop any injuries to your body from the sharp metal tops. It doesn't rust if left outside. Folds in two, but if you bend the teeth it'll be difficult to fold up.
Otherwise, it's good and does the job perfectly.

Solid saw horse.

Good piece of kit. Certainly couldn't have made it myself for the price. Simple but effective. Stable on the ground and grips wet logs well. Used it to log single 8 foot pieces of 12 inch diameter and up to five 4 inch branches of the same length (when pressed well onto the teeth). Also stable with a 2 foot overhang on both ends. Swift free delivery. Easy to assemble.Read full review

Cost effective

I bought this to help with cutting some logs at home. It is a simple and cost efficient piece of equipment that enables me to have both hands free to use a chainsaw. It could benefit with another rail just below the fulcrum point of the two halves to make it a bit more rigid, but other than that it is fine for what I need it to do.Read full review

What do you want it for?

This is a very cheap price to pay for a sturdy saw horse and for normal use would be great. I have a log burner with a small door and therefore wanted the capability to cut to smaller log lengths. This would be a problem with the standard unit BUT - easy solution, buy two. The holes are there for additional legs and it is still a cheap solution for a very sturdy unit. I now have a five legged version which has been fully tested - highly recommended.Read full review

Some instructions would have been good...

There were no instructions in the box so study that photograph on the outer label, it may be all you have to go off !

Once I understood why there were 3 thicker bolts and 2 longer bolts it all came together OK.

The design is very practical and the thing can support quite a heavy log without any issues. Overall I'm very pleased with it.

Does the job I guess.

This loghorse is OK but I've bought a better one from a local chain for the same price.

Be careful around the teeth - they are incredibly sharp and my father sliced his arm open after brushing against it accidentally.

Quite tricky to put together unfortunately. I have now disposed of it as stated above and bought another instead that also has one of the cutting sections smaller so you can easily cut different logs while fully supported. This one has three teeth all evenly spaced so no option for that.

End result is impressive, certainly seems sturdy enough to take the weight - great value for money

Having read a few negative reviews on this in regard to manufacture and assembly I took the plunge with a little trepidation but for the cost it was worth a go. I have to say that putting it together was easy (even without instructions). A tip would be to look out for the braces they are two different sizes so you need to make sure you have the correct ones going across and diagonally otherwise it wont work for you. It took a little over 15 Minutes to assemble and the end result is impressive, certainly seems sturdy enough to take the weight. The edges are a little sharp but so is my saw so wear gloves when putting it together.Read full review
