Worth the cost, but read all reviews first (ARGOS and John Lewis).
Pros:
+Excellent default sound quality/options (options to personalise).
+Clear screen.
+Easy to set-up/use.
+Full instructions came with it (I hate having to go on-line).
+Compact design.
+Looks to be well built.
Cons:
+Shame the optional battery pack (thinking of buying) has to be attached to the rear (poor design) blocking the rear speaker.
+Looks a little dated when compared with PURE radios.
+Other users have mentioned an issue with USB stick usage (I have tried this and had the same issue/but not a problem for me as I do not intend to use with a USB stick - I was merely "testing")

You need an iPhone to operate this Roberts Radio
Roberts used to make classic traditional radios on which tuning was easy because they had big illuminated dials .- with the station names on them .... but no longer.
The "dial", such as it is, on the Roberts Stream 941 is a tiny screen - unreadable from any distance. You have to be sitting right on top of the radio to see the type-font of this display screen.
The remote control is useless because if you're far enough away to need a remote control you can't read the names of the stations on the screen. The remote control needs - but does not have - a display screen on it.
The only way to comfortably tune DAB channels and internet channels on the Roberts radio - if you're more than a couple of feet away from it - is to use an iPhone app called -curiously - "UNDOCK" . This actually works very well although is far from perfect.
My original Roberts DAB radio (an RD-1) stopped working with umpteen faults on it, some of which were due to poor components like push buttons and others caused by software problems . I am hoping - somewhat against hope - the Roberts Stream 941 is going to last a little longer.Read full review

For me? The perfect modern radio.
After listening to internet radio via my iPad and laptop I finally decided to purchase a dedicated unit and purchased the Roberts Stream 94i.
Apart from the ability to stream radio stations from the internet it is also an FM receiver and DAB/DAB+ receiver (although personally I am less interested in this and more interested in the internet radio feature).
It is a very stylish and well built radio that is very easy to set up and operate.
The sound quality is also very good.
Dimensionally it is not a large unit and so will sit on most tables, sideboards, kitchen units without taking up a lot of space.
The display is clear and easy to read.
The remote control has an almost 'Applesque' design and feel about it.
Overall, if you are in the market for an internet radio it is well worth your attention as an option.

Not all Roberts radios deserve the high praise they get. This one does.
I have a Roberts 93i as well as the 94i and most of these comments apply equally to both. The main difference is the wood veneer wrap on the 94i making it look better. The 94i also has a slightly better button layout.
As a simple FM / DAB radio it is nothing special. The reception in my house is quite poor and I have to use an external aerial with the 94i. Some other radios work fine with just their telescopic aerial.
The best features are the 'Music Player' and the 'Internet Radio' making the 94i incredibly flexible. If you miss 'The Archers', no problem, just play the podcast version whenever you are ready. If there is nothing on the radio you want to hear, just play your own music, audio books, etc wirelessly from your computer or NAS etc.
The BBC internet streams are now superb quality (in the UK only) and significantly better than FM or DAB. If you don't need accurate time 'pips' it makes sense to listen to BBC internet radio all the time.
Audio quality is pretty good for a small radio. It is not remotely 'hifi' but is not bad either. The 94i is a slight audio improvement over the 93i but it certainly would not be worth upgrading unless, like me, you needed another radio.
Operating the thing is a bit frustrating to start with. The menus are a bit tedious and it is sometimes slow to respond but that, I guess, is the penalty we pay for having one of the most multi-capable radios available. The most obvious UK rival is the Ruark R2, which I also have. The Ruark R2 sounds better, getting a little bit closer to 'hifi', but it is more expensive. If it was to be your only music player, you should buy the Ruark R2 instead.
'UNDOK' is a phone app which enables almost complete control of the 94i, and indeed the R2. It is well worth getting as it is much easier to use than the mini remote control that comes with the 94i and avoids some of the annoying menus.
All in all, well worth getting but only if you intend to use the internet radio and/or Music player. If you only intend to use FM or DAB, it is not worth the money.
