2nd Generation MY Ring
My ring is very easy to install and if you have a mains-powered bell at present you can use those wires to power your Ring. We bought the Chime as well so you can have if you want, the doorbell chiming, your old doorbell chiming, and your Chime chiming. You can turn off your doorbell if you wish. Poor to no motion detection
Received my new ring door bell, installation guide was easy to follow (been a Cctv engineer for 8 years) battery life seems good and the overall look of the device nice good, however the device I received, seems just to be a door bell with a camera the motion detection is only triggered when directly in front of the doorbell or movements about 1m away but only ever to the right hand side, I’ve tried numerous thing as in moving the ring and changing the angle up down left right, all of the things ring tech support told me to do with in the settings and still nothing, considering you can buy a full Cctv camera system for £200, I’d probably recommended that Read full review

while it is a very stable device compared to some cheaper clone alternatives, i would not have bought it knowing that a monthly subscription is required to use all the features, like video recording and playback.
the device works as a video doorbell without this subscription, but i will look for an alternative next time.

There is a video doorbell in the market for less than a third of the price of this. Do not by the cheap unbranded version of this: only buy Ring.
The camera on the Ring doorbell is brilliant. Gives a very high quality picture, even in low light, and it has a very wide angled lense, which clearly shows who's at the door regardless of their height, even if they step to one side. The internal battery (supplied) lasts for days, and to keep mine topped up, I purchased the optional solar panel.
Don't waste your time and money on the unbranded imposter. It benefits from none of the above features, probably won't come with the two sets of 3x18650 batteries it requires because you'll be charging batteries every day, or a means to charge the batteries!
