Very cost effective for light users
Lots of companies have service plans for heavy users at a high price; this is an excellent option for those wanting a low plan cost while still providing a usable level of service. It has a portal for
monitoring service remaining because the codes like #WEB# don’t work with this service. Be careful because the data usage limit of 500 MB is a hard cap.Read full review
Factory-unlocked Samsung Galaxy owners READ THIS first.
If you have a factory-unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 and want to use the Verizon option, you will have some inconveniences. Red Pocket will tell you your phone is "compatible," but it is not. The only way to get the "CDMA" card to work is to put a real Verizon sim in your phone, let it reconfigure, then enter Emergency Mode, which disables the radios. In Emergency Mode, swap sims (insert the Red Pocket CDMA sim), and then exit emergency mode. The phone won't know that you have swapped sims and will remain configured for the Verizon network. If you ever turn off the phone, drain your battery, reboot for updates, etc. you will have to go through the above routine again. Red Pocket must have some type of contractual limitation, just like Xfinity Mobile, that prevents their sim card from properly configuring your phone to work on Verizon's network. The phone itself is compatible, yes, but you can't use it on Verizon's network unless you insert a postpaid sim card, let the phone reconfigure itself, and then swap in the Red Pocket sim in Emergency mode. PITA? Absolutely. The savings of $21/month with lower speed Red Pocket "Verizon" unlimited vs. $75/mo full-speed real Verizon unlimited is probably worth it for those of us who live where Verizon is the only network with good coverage. Otherwise, Samsung Galaxy owners should just use one of the GSM cards (ATT or T-Mobile) and save avoid playing this sim swapping game every time you need to reboot.Read full review

Best Deal for the money
I have been impressed with the service so far. I only have had one area that I don't get a good signal so far crossing 3 states. The one thing that I don't like is the service doesnt allow me to use the hotspot feature so I can use my laptop with the data. I called and they said they don't allow tethering at all. Doesn't make sense to me since Im paying for it how I use it but not my call. Just wish I knew it before I paid for a year. Other than that, great deal.Read full review

Red Pocket annual plan good value but requires some work
The annual plan is a very good value but it was not a seemless process to port my phone number. The process took about 48 hours and required about 5 phone calls to Red Pocket. I would recommend that the first time you call in to ask for a case # to track progress of the port. I had an iPhone 5S which is a 4G LTE device. That may have cause some more issues to process. I have been working for about 2 weeks now and all works fine.Read full review

Good
Had trouble activating the phone and had to call around 6 times and was finally given a new sim card twice but after that it worked and the last two people I talked to really did try to help me. Would help if the sim cards were labeled as to which was gsm or cdma. As for the quality and service I have no idea til I use it for more then a month but so far I'm happy for now.Read full review

Good value for those who like DIY
If you are a DIY kind of person, this is a great value on Verizon's cell network. On multiple occasions I had to reset my phone's network settings to be able to make calls (texts and data still worked), only to settle for not using enhanced LTE services to be able to make calls. This is OK, it just means that my phone conversations are a bit less clear sounding. Read full review

some hicups while porting old phone number
Using it for my home phone and ported my old home phone number.
Pros: work with most major cell networks - T-mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon. Can buy extra minutes, if needed. New Redpocket computer interface now tracks minutes, text, and data properly.
Cons: only 100 minutes a month - but good enough for a home phone - I mainly use my cell phone and use this as my backup. The new interface still doesn't properly track annual prepaid plans - they still expire every month; so you'll have to place a reminder in your phone calendar to renew your subscription. You also lose wifi calling on the GSM network attached phones. I've read in the FAQ that Sprint & Verizon network customers, wifi calling is still functional.
Since I was an old T-mobile customer; I opted to stick with the T-mobile network - just lost wifi calling functionality.Read full review
No MMS on iphones!
If I could get the full plan as it is advertised, it would be a great value. But after many hours of tech support on the phone, we were not able to get MMS working at all. I did some research online and found a review that said that Red Pocket cannot provide MMS to iphones, stating that it is a limitation imposed by Apple. Customer service at Red Pocket never informed me of this. I was able to reach Red Pocket service by phone easily, but communication was difficult due to foreign accents. In addition, it was a difficult 2-day process to port my number to the new carrier I selected after Red Pocket. After many phone calls, I know the problem was with Red Pocket customer service. However, they did quickly refund my money.Read full review

Not recommended
I was expecting a fast easy process for installment and use but I have had to speak with the company several times to get the services up and running. Also there is no support for MMS which is also a bummer. I do not recommend this product if you like sending pictures or group messages. If you like barebones plans with just talk data and text without MMS then you could go with this plan because it has great coverage but for me it was not what I was expecting and the setup was a hassle.Read full review
