Compact, easy storage,easy operation.

This shredder was a replacement for my old one which required a new switch. A new switch would have cost approx £50. This Qualcast shredder was an excellent buy as it is powerful, making short work of pruning waste, compact for easy storage and excellent value for money. It has also saved me time getting rid of branches from pruning. The shredded waste can also be used around the garden to inhibit weeds. Highly recommended. Read full review

Fantastic bit of kit OR SO I THOUGHT

I have been very satisfied with this machine, it seems to take things in its stride, for an electric appliance it is good. BUT It did not take long before it stopped working, I had it apart to check for blockages none were found but it wont go and it keeps tripping my lecki. phoned qualcast no support.Read full review

Quiet and efficient

Very good garden shredder, pretty powerful, goes through most stuff. Not too difficult to move around the garden.

good value

Never owned a shredder before, so I cannot compare it to other models. However, after two uses, four hours constantly in use, it performed very well and dealt with everything. Not as noisy as I had imagined. Quite portable, if I had one request, it would be that the top half could separate easier without the hassle of undoing the four screws, thus making it ultra portable.Read full review

Qualcast SDS2810 Garden Shredder

I bought this used Shredder for under £50 and it's an absolute steal! I have put nearly 2 wheelie bins worth of shrub and tree pruning through in the 2 days I've had it so far....that is I filled the bins with the shreddings and that's a LOT of branches, leaves and stems.
If you're expecting to be able to throw a branch in whole like the professionals at the roadside, forget it, input needs to be reasonably straight as the entry is restricted to prevent shredded limbs! I used to cut up my waste to fit it in the bin with secateurs and loppers, this does it so much better and faster and saves the aching hand/ wrist, you also get more in the bin because it's smaller.
You do need to adjust the blade occasionally as you work else it'll batter the branch, not shred. It's taken everything that I can cut with my ratchet loppers, if loppers won't cut it, this probably won't shred it. It has a big collecting box underneath with a safety cut-out on, so you can take your mulch to compost/bin/spread with ease.
All considered it's a good bit of kit for a DIY gardener. Professional gardeners or tree surgeons will probably need something considerably bigger and more expensive.

Versatile and strong

I wasn't expecting too much from this machine, but it has exceeded all my expectaions. There are minor annoyances such as the unusual shape of the opening, but it's clear that this is for safety reasons. Overall I have used it for trees, ivy and general larger weeds and it has coped admirably. I did manage to jam it once with a large, dry, plum branch, but in general, as long as the branch you are inserting is relatively straight, it will crush anything up to its advertised size. The box is large, enough for a good couple of hours of shredding, and if you keep the blade tightened it will cope very well with anything except green slimy weeds such as alcanet. But then I suppose shredding those is a little pointless anyway. Ideal for brambles, dog rose, ivy, elder and plum saplings etc. Altogether a very impressive machine. And yes, it is quiet...Read full review

Works well.

A very useful tool especially for leaves that take so much room in bags and composters. Wet leaves clog the cutter and you should be careful not to add a stone as it will damage the cutter. Obvious I know, ( I found out the hard way and chipped it) but when you are raking leaves, it's not easy to see if there is a stone amongst them. Simple to adjust and use, well made and easy to clean. Simple to strip in the case of a blockage, a very useful addition to the garden tools.Read full review

Good quality, Does The Job

This is a Spear & Jackson product with different plastic colours rebadged as a Qualcast one. It shreds effectively, isn't too noisy, and doesn't jam up much. I'm very pleased with it.

Great

My better half is the user of this great gadget, and he says that is is very well made, is first class, and does a great job. Now as he is an engineer, and is very particular. It means that this shredder is tops. So it comes highly recommended.Read full review
