Not bad at all
Bought this to replace an ageing head unit which is not DAB+ and an external aerial. It is well thought out, with the receiver itself attached to the windscreen with the stick-on aerial. The control unit is compact, battery powered and talks to the receiver by Bluetooth so it has no cables attached; this means it's very easy to find a good place to put it on the dashboard. The whole thing is essentially very quick to get going - plug the receiver cable into a USB socket (or use the included fag-lighter adapter if your car doesn't have USB) and either plug the 3.5 mm plug into the aux-in on your car radio, or if it doesn't have one, set the Highway audio-out to FM and it will generate a radio signal on a frequency of your choice between 87.6 and 108 MHz. Attach the aerial to the receiver and it's good to go. If you're happy to have the cable trailing around the car then that's all there is to it. I installed the cable behind the trim and dashboard which took some time, but once done it looks very neat and unobtrusive. The cable is long enough to reach the centre console between the front seats if necessary, which it was in my case as that's where the USB and aux-in sockets are. This system is also Bluetooth, and connected easily to my android phone. Audio quality in both radio and Bluetooth music modes is acceptable.
If I had to mention negative points about it, I'd have to say that although it's not bad, it's not quite as sensitive as my old system. That did however have a proper 1/4 wave external aerial, so it's just physics - an outside aerial will always give better results. Also, as a necessary consequence of being battery powered, the controller goes into standby after so many seconds, and also you don't get any programme (SI) information. It does do traffic information (according to the manual), but I've yet to hear any.
So in conclusion, I don't think it quite justifies the recommended price of about £160, but as I only paid £60 I'm more than happy with it. It would be good if Pure offered an external aerial as an option to improve the reception of more distant multiplexes.Read full review

Good in theory but too complicated for its own good.
In theory this is a great and useful product. It allows FM car radios to pick up DAB stations, and it has Bluetooth as well. But it's quite a complicated device, with an antenna unit which has to be stuck permanently to the windscreen and has a long trailing cable to connect to the car's power outlet - or cigarette lighter as it was known. This has to be routed round the windscreen pillar and dashboard and requires the car ignition to be fully on to operate. There is a second unit, a battery-powered controller which has to be attached somewhere on the front panel above the dashboard. This talks wirelessly to the antenna unit. It then has to be set up to receive DAB broadcasts, which is not too tricky, and the car's FM radio has to be tuned on a spare channel to it. So far so good. But this small box has a number of tiny control buttons which are fiddly to use and distracting if driving. Changing radio station is not straightforward as it is too easy to press the wrong button. And pairing the Bluetooth function with a phone to get hands-free operation is a whole new ballgame. My phone recognised the device but I found it impossible to use the unit to perform phone functions like making and receiving calls. It simply would not seem to see the phone. The instruction manual was not very helpful either. So after spending nearly £70 I have a DAB radio in my car but no hands-free phone ability.Read full review

Best car gadget ever
On a normal day before I bought this, I struggled to get once radio station and that's BBC Wilt, and that's because I live in Wiltshire. Heart would come and go at whatever time it suited it. Installing this, I was able to get 70 HD voice clear radio stations. I am definitely flabbergasted.
On the down side though, the main unit comes with 2 AAA batteries, so doesn't get plugged. I knew this from the outset before I bought it anyway. I bought this because it was the best recommended DAB 2018.
According to my research, the batteries should last 6 to 12 months as the light on the main unit does not stay on throughout; it goes off.Read full review

Superb little unit with excellent call quality.
Fitted this to my MkIV Golf and was blown away by the call quality.
Easy to fit - though make sure you push the microphone plug right into the socket on the antenna unit.
Great to have DAB radio in an older car.Read full review

Early days yet as it has only been installed for 24 hours but initial thoughts are all positive. Very easy to install and so far performs as expected to. First journey was a 60 mile round trip (south yorks area) without loss of signal so far so good. Read full review

Fantastic value ...and sound!
This is s simple device to DIY fit....and easy to make it look professional. Setup of the Highway was easy as well, and the sound quality is excellent. The head unit is amazingly small, but even big handed people (like me) will beable to use it.
Whilst setting up handsfree phone is simple (again), I have not yet had a great deal of success with actually conducting a conversation...the other end seem to find it hard to hear anyone using handsfree Early days, may need abit of 'tuning'. Head unit requires 2 AAA batteries, which are supplied. But you best carry a spare pair, 'cos who knows when they will loose power! Becasue of problems on handsfree and batteries, it looses one one star.
If you want DAB+, with handsfree, all at £60, this was a fantastic bargain!.Read full review
