Great device, do what advertises, but a overpriced a lot.

If you want to pass HDMI-CEC commands to your computer (or compatible NAS device), you need this device. It does its work well - no problem so far. The only thing against this device is its price. It is overpriced a lot - one of the reasons is there is not any alternative product on the market. But hey, if you get yourself USB irda adaptor and universal remote, it will cost you together less than this device itself...

But one big plus point - the device has ongoing support (firmware, drivers etc.), which is great!

almost not used

it did not work out-of-box with my LG TV + Plex media server (when TV is on, but HDMI is not selected as source - remote control works perfectly with PC Plex software; however when remote control stops working once HDMI is selected, so I can see the picture but cannot control it). This might be a problem with TV or Plex though.
In addition I got BSOD couple times after i installed everything - now the adapter is disconnected.

Works well with my Sony Bravio TV

Works well with my Sony Bravio smart TV i use it on Mediaportal and Kodi ant these apps autodetected its Presence and allowed me to use the TV remote to control most functions such as selecting an option and controlling playback with pause fast forward and reverse working well.
I have not yet explored making any adjustments to key mapping and i have to use a complementory mouse to delete tv programs already viewed in mediaportal but it is a great asset to other users such as visitors who can select view and record programs with ease from the TV remote. Also use CEC to control my Now TV box so everything i need to control can be done with the TV remote
Installation was quick and easy i put the device close to the TV Hdmi port with a very short HDMI cable oftware for the CEC adaptor was installed in Mediaportan and Kodi and the device was recognized by both applications with no further action needed

fiddly but working

If you've gotten this far to consider it then my guess is that it'd do exactly what you'd expect. It takes some understanding of what ARC is & how it operates (root port is the display et al). Once you have the new knowledge, remember to configure its (Windows) drivers to operate the correct HDMI port, b/c (by default), it turns ON HDMI port no. 1, but for my setup I had to change its settings to turn HDMI port 2 to ON (my setup roughly as follows - [computer's] HDMI - HDMI [Pulse-Eight] HDMI - HDMI2 [TV] HDMI1ARC - HDMI [Soundbar]). That said, it is expensive for what it is and its plastics don't seem to be of great quality.Read full review...

A working cec solution for htpc use.

Nice product.
Injects cec signal to hdmi cable for controlling the upstream devices
from the htpc and vice versa.
Plays out of the box in libre/openelec,
for windows the user will have to install its library/driver.
Also highly customizable, the user can control/adjust many cec settings.
Plays nice with most tvs/avrs,
and the user can control many functions via a single remote via the hdmi bus.
Highly recommended.

Works with Kodi (nearly) out of the box, even on Linux

Just plug it in, one UBS cable between the device and PC, one HDMI from TV to the device, and one HDMI cable from the device to PC; software wise everything works out of the box with Kodi, even on Linux; just install libcec package and add Kodi user to group 'dialed'. Kodi automatically recognizes it, pop up shows when system is ready to listen to the TV remote. All keys are preconfigured in Kodi too: arrows, pause, return, power off; I didn't have to set any of these.Read full review...
