Great value for money for a quality product

I have only used them twice so far but the quality of the finish and the fantastic line lay with the slow occilation of this reel is exceptional .I have paid more than 4 times the value of this reel for other reels in the past and not been able to get as much line on them.the retrieve is also quite quick which is ideal in a match situation.Read full review

Disappointing

Had the penn surfblaster mk1 which was fine but the mk2 has had some changes and not for the better such as the screw in handle which is an added complication and is not necessary as the shaft could easily be stripped and could loosen if not careful also mk2 only comes with one spool so to use mono separately you would have to buy another spool. All in all I am disappointed with the mk2 the function of the reel is ok it's the changes that have let it down.Read full review

I bought the Penn Surfblaster II 7000 prior to buying the 8000 so I now own two Penn reels.
The 8000 is slightly larger in diameter and depth in its spool size being for me slightly better and easier to get really good distance casts.
Both reels are extremely well built with a look and feel of quality.
The only negative I have is with the manual bail arm as it took a while to break my habit of expecting the bail to flip as I reeled.
I bought Penn reels as my Dad praised his Penn multipliers back in the 70s/80s so I stayed brand loyal and I'm not disappointed.Read full review
