I bought the camera to use on holiday. I normally use Nikon 500 SLRs but I wanted something small and light to carry. I didn't expect much from the camera due to its size and price but the results surprised me. it certainly isn't a match for an slr but the image quality was far better than I expected. The night mode made taking photos without a tripod in poorly lit streets easy and the results were excellent. The panorama mode i thought was going to be nothing more than a gimmick but the results were stunning for the most part, only 2 taken indoors in a museum were ruined by noise. Great price and the Leica lens more than makes up for any issues that the processor may have. Great price and for a camera the size of a cigarette packet it produces great quality photographs even when printed at 18 by 12 inches.Read full review

Great little compact for the jacket pocket. Perfect for surveying.

I have an earlier model, and its the perfect compact for surveying. The only one thing is I'm not sure if the flash is as good as the DMC-TZ35. There again, the flash on the TZ35 could sometimes be too bright and over exposed.

No need to spend 3 times the cost on a new one, when a refurbished one is more than adequate.

This would have been the Leica V Lux 50 only they didn't make one so we have to make do with the TZ 40 which doesn't come with photoshop or the extra year guarantee but is still an excellent truly pocket size super zoom unlike the later incarnations of TZ 60, 70 , 80 or 90 which are too big and not pocket sized. It does 1080 HD but not 4K. But who needs 4K in a pocket zoom. It has Wifi and there is a great Panasonic app so you can transfer your pictures to your smartphone.Read full review
