Handy As A Pocket on a Shirt!!

With replaceable AA batteries, no re-chargeable batteries to fail. If it slow up, just replace the batteries! It shaves close ALWAYS! It has plenty of power to do he job, batteries last about a month or two. It is a great razor to take on a trip, no charger or cords to fool with. I I've had 4 of these, I highly recommend it.Read full review...

Used to be great because it was cheap and ubiquitous

This used to be a great device precisely because it was cheap and small. You can get a better shave with others, but this one was almost disposable and super easy to fit in a dopp/travel kit. I've owned about 4-5 of these over the years. Try and find a pocket sized linear shaver with a c

However, key parts of it are poorly made - the foil mostly, and to a lesser extent the clipper. Both have broken on mine. The clipper is impossible to fix, the foil can be replaced but it is priced so high that you may as well buy a new one.

Now that this item is no longer on sale at most retailers for $25-35 and instead is at $45 only on eBay, it really isn't worth the risk. Unless you are willing to take very good care of it.

Buyer beware, on my last one, the foil dented within 2 weeks. (FYI a dented foil might lead to an uneven or not close shave at best, may pull on hairs). Previous ones have had holes in the foil, which leads to cuts, but that was after at least a year or so. If you can find replacement foils cheap, then go ahead - I just saw some non-OEM replacement parts on Amazon for $11 + shipping from China...

Great replacement for the Braun shavers of the 1980s

I had been having my Braun shavers from the 1980s replaced, repaired, finding new ones, old ones that still work, and I'd finally given up. Repair shops can't fix them anymore and it's no longer worth buying old ones. They are sadly dead. BUT, this shaver is a great replacement. Basically the same design and general technology and this one is specifically AA-battery-run which isn't a bad thing. The old on-board batteries on the Braun's charged and corded ones that could be used cordless had their own technical problems over time. This is great—the shave is a little closer, can be used in the shower, cleans easily and might last even longer than the old Braun models. I'm quite happy to have found this. There are no other shavers of this design nowadays. Use it with lithium AA batteries for longer life. Well done, Panasonic. However, it too is already an older model that is no longer made, so buy it while you see it.Read full review...

Unexpensive product of good quality

I was using another, more expensive model of Panasonic shaver (ES8813) for more than 5 years. I bought the ES-3833s a month ago, an I was not disappointed. It shaves very smoothly, the battery life is impressive. The only difference between this model and its predecessor is the size of the holes in the foil: there are bigger. So, do not apply excessive force during shaving, otherwise you will cut your skin. My previous shaver had a built-in battery, sometimes the device stopped during shaving, because the battery had to be recharged. Now I always have another battery, and the device is always ready for use.Read full review...

Good price, good device

This is a good shaver. The best thing about it is that it uses replaceable batteries, and the cutting parts are easily available on the internet. Thus never worry about the battery being the cause of ultimate demise.
Works well with shaving cream! Has a trimmer for those long ones which don't feed into the shaver.

Excellent compact shaver.

This is an excellent compact shaver.
It shaves well and the trimmer is good.
Also I like that it runs on ordinary batteries rather than being rechargeable.

But unfortunately it is now rather hard to find a supplier; I don't think that Panasonic are still making it.Read full review...

Best damn razor for the shower.

I use it at every shower. You can hear it catching the stubble left behind by a double or triple edge plastic handled shaver. The pop-out trimmer is in a place to see exactly what you are trimming. The stupidly expensive shavers have the trimmer in places where you cannot see what you're cutting. Dumb idea. Batteries last a long time. I have three: one in the camper, one in the shower at home, and one in my travel kit.Read full review...

Best electric razor at an excellent price

I love this electric razor. The previous one is still great and worked for years but the trimmer stopped working so I wanted to get another one. Was surprised it’s so hard to get - but found it in e-bay and am so happy to have another new one!Read full review...

Small and goes anywhere and simply put in two AA batteries and you are good to go.

I have used this Panasonic shaver for many years. This one (ES3833) comes with the trimmer while the others do not. I do recommend it and they are of good quality but they are overpriced (more than doubled) from the the last time I bought these but when you want it you want it.Read full review...
