Classy Orient Quartz Watch with Roman Numerals

This is a very nice watch; it keeps good time and has a very simple, pleasing classical design, utilizing roman numerals. However, there are some negatives. It's big; it's 38 mm case diameter is only one mm larger than my prior "everyday" watch, but the crystal/face diameter is several mm wider combined with the white face making this watch look huge on my wrist. This watch has a "sapphire" crystal, a great deal of glare comes off this large crystal even in low light situations.

One irritating aspect of this watch is that it does not have a second hand, it has a little tiny date window at the 6 o'clock position. I mainly use a second hand to verify that the watch is running, thus it's irritating having to stare at the watch before perceiving minute hand movement. Additionally, the date window is too small to read the date in the window.

There is one other "issue", which I understood and accepted prior to purchase. This watch comes with a leather, imitation crocodile watch band, No good for everyday use. I knew that I would have to purchase a replacement stainless steel bracelet. This new bracelet works perfectly and the gold-tone looks great with the watch. .

To sum up: a very attractive quartz watch made by Orient (owned by Seiko's parent company - Epson). Orient has as good and perhaps a better reputation than Seiko for quality watches. But there are some "issues" that you must be willing to accept: no second hand and a cheap band. Another good point is that this watch utilizes a very common, widely available 370/371 button battery.
