Love the OM-D E-M1 Mark II

Recently replaced my OM-D E-M1 with this Mark II. So far, the images look a bit better and it's as easy to use. Looking forward ot using hi-ress mode to "scan" old family photos and slides. The batteries are different from the Mark I, but I've been sticking to Olympus batteries and one batery seems to last all day. The tripos mount is closer to the battery door, so my waist mount system doesn't work as well as with the Mark I. Overall, I am so pleased with my recent upgrade. I purchased and international version and so far I wouldn't know the difference from the US version (I bought a 3-year square trade insurance with it just to be safe.)Read full review

A dream-come-true for many advanced photographers

I have been an amateur then part time pro for over 50 years. I have worked with a lot of different gear, formats and subjects. Lately, I have been shooting with a Nikon D750 and Nikkor pro zooms for very high IQ, and E-M5 II's with M43 pro glass for very high portability. Since I wanted to add a body with good 4K video, I recently purchased an E-M! mark 2. There are many professional reviews of this camera already and this is not the place for another long one. What I can add is that this camera has superb ergonomics, perfect for my medium size male hands, a ridiculous (in a good way) number of features and customization, and an IQ that allows you to make fine art quality prints up to 30x40" at low ISO with quite a small and light system. Now that it's down to $1,399 it is a killer quality/price value. If you are shopping for a camera in this price range you must give it a try. BTW, I started doing water drops photography in continuous light with its 60fps capability and it works like a charm.Read full review

one of the best cameras available at any price

This is a very complex camera, one that I would only recommend to the most serious/avid enthusiast or even professional. Much has been said in many reviews since it arrived in 2016, and youtube is the source for the best of them. I sold off my Canon DSLR in its entirety for the shift to Micro four-thirds, specifically Olympus OMD bodies (EM-5 Mk II and this EM1 MkII recently acquired), and I haven't looked back. The most salient desirables in the shift are: compact and portable lightweight gear overall, features unavailable in any other camera system such as "Live Composite", and 5-axis sensor stabilization, superfast phase-detect and contrast-detect hybrid focusing, silent shooting mode, great battery life counted down in 1/100 percent as it becomes used, excellent 4K video recording capability, and four "C" or customizable camera presets. Really, the list goes on, but for me it's the "feel" and quality build and weather-sealing that are fundamental advantages as well. This is a gem of a photographic tool that rewards those who are dedicated to extract the capability of its design. So far I'm thrilled with the camera body. The first few hundred exposures revealed a hint at the amazing potential within the camera.......all that's required is a competent and aspiring photographer. With all of the conversation these days around full frame and even medium format sensored cameras, for truly awesome photos using a lightweight and hyper-adaptive photographic tool, the OMD EM1 MkII is very hard to beat. It's the combination of utility and creative potential and mobility that characterize this camera, and for me it's quite satisfactory as a vessel to capture my creativity. Though the sheer specs can be beaten by one or another camera, the entire package offered is virtually no match by any other camera.Read full review

Second Purchase I like it so well.

I like the E-M1 Mark ii so much I bought a second one. I am a portrait and sports photographer and this camera satisfies all my needs. For my studio work it is perfect and the Olympus lenses are outstanding. It is fast enough for the sports work I do. Outdoor sports is never a problem and indoor shooting usually works well too. If I have to shoot very high ISO settings and get a little noise, most of the time it is minimal and if not I just run a noise reduction program and the files are great. I like the E-M1 Mark ii better than the E-M1X as I can take off the battery pack for a smaller camera. I've been shooting Olympus Digital since 2004 and this is the best so far. Read full review

One of the best cameras in the world, bar none.

One of the best cameras in the world, bar none. It does have a fairly high level of learning needed to get all of the best features, but it is a professional level camera. The image stabilization is rated as the best available. The lenses beat all of my white canon L lenses at equivalent mm and f-stop and weight in at 1/3 . . . yes, I sold all of my Canon gear and completely switched. Now instead of humping a HUGE bag to a photo shoot, I can carry all of my gear in a fairly light backpack or shoulder bag. Whole system is about 1/3 the weight of the Canon. And, yes, I did look at and test the new Canon mirrorless body, but the lenses are still the same size and weight. And the Olympus has more useable features for sports/wildlife/street photography than the Canons.Read full review

Justifies its price with versatility

This is an expensive, complicated camera, but it is also the most technologically advanced camera I have encountered. While most photographers and manufacturers debate frame size and pixel counts, Olympus has quietly optimized their flagship camera with cutting edge features and customization.Read full review

I love the E-M1 MARK II.

I love it. I had the older E-M1 and loved it as well, but was a little irritated with the way the screen operated. The mark II corrected that. I probably would have stuck with the older one, except the shutter started locking, so the option to have it repaired or buying a used newer model was out there. The Update won. All my previous lenses fit; that's good. My only complaint so far is that the micro flash I had doesn't fit. I have a larger Olympus flash, but it's bulky in compared to the camera. I also need to check for program updates. The camera is wonderful!Read full review

Really Great for What It Is - But You Need to Spend Time Learning the Menus

I checked off "yes" for easy to use but it is not completely easy. You really have to spend a lot of time learning the menu - and even once you learn it there are way too many things to remember where they actually are in the menus. One other thing I find irritating is the fact that the camera resets itself which is very annoying after you've spent a lot of time setting the camera's setting to taste and then you turn the camera on and the settings have come undone. EVEN WITH THOSE ANNOYING THINGS this camera takes high quality photos - but you do have to put in the time learning to use it.Read full review

Loving my pre-owned OM-D EM-1 Mark II

Great camera for serious enthusiast or professional. While I’m still getting acquainted with it, it has all the familiar settings I’m used to from other Oly four-thirds cameras, with one exception— this camera takes four-thirds to a whole new level in terms of speed, handling, image quality, and did I mention speed? Can’t wait to see what I can achieve. Now, to raid the retirement account for all those Pro lenses..Read full review
