A great lens at a great price!

I bought this lens from Photos4Less and they wer fantastic!

The Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens is a standard prime lens with a fairly decent aperture of 1.8. This lens focuses fast and is sharp. I am enjoying the lens and haven't taken off the camera since purchased. It does 90% of what I need to do.

Everyone says that this lens is "plasticy," and it is. However, if bumped it bounces back where metal would bend. I think all lenses can be ruined if they are bounced hard enough, but bent metal can stop the unit from focusing whereas plastic just goes back into position. Like most people who have evaluated Nikkor 50mm lenses, I love the fine focus and feel of the AIS models, but they are manual focus, and I need auto-focus. So for me, this was, and is, the best choice--all things considered.Read full review

Must have lens for potraits

This lens absorbs more natural light and contrast when used at hight aperture and very good background blur, i barely post process photos taken by this lens. As this is a prime lens (no zoom) i may have to move to zoom in/out, but this is not a big thing.Read full review

Nifty 50

Now I get the term. Very useful lens. Good for portraits because you can control image blur with the turn of the lens ring. Good for close ups and small landscapes, very sharp. Just know there is no zoom adjustment. Just a 50mm, but a great one. Works great on my Nikon D5600.Read full review
