A practical lens!!

The price and the quality really match. I took it around to take all kinds of pictures, no problem at all. Quick focus makes it very convenient to shoot street photos. Definitely a lens to keep around with you at all time.Read full review

Great lens

I bought this lens for more flexibility in low light situations. Indoors, night street shorts, and shadow areas. Good quality used lens are such a bargain compared to buying new. Even when it's an older lens, the quality in the image is still excellent.Read full review

Just as good as a Z 50 f/1.8!

razor-sharp images. Works, autofocuses and meters perfectly on my new Z5 with the FTZ adapter. And at about 1/4 of the price of a new Z 50 mm f/1.8!

Awesome Lens for the price especially when compared to the 50mm f/1.4G

After reading countless reviews comparing the F/1.4G and the F/1.8 I bought the F/1.8G. The F/1.8G is amazing and is one-third the cost of the F/1.4G.

I use this lens on a D3300 and a D810 body. Again the lens is amazing.Read full review

Great lens!

I use this on my Nikon D 7200. It fits in the middle of my lineup of prime lenses in between the 35mm & 85mm. I didn't take it off my camera for weeks. It has an effective FOV of a 75mm and is a great portrait lens with a creamy bokeh.Read full review

Nikon 50mm 1.8 G Lens

It's just like all the reviewers say...it focuses faster than the older 50mm 1.8 AF-D, but isn't as sharp and detailed, and has slightly poorer dynamic contrast and color rendition. Despite claims that the older version also has nicer bokeh, the out-of-focus areas from both lenses look identical to me, when shot wide open with Nikon D90 body.
So why only four stars? Because the older 50mm 1.8 AF-D has better image quality and costs about $75 less.

A little disappointed about the quality at wide apertures

I had a 18-105mm and I bought the 50mm 1.8 lens to enjoy the benefits of the wide aperture. Sadly, I discovered that for wide apperture (2.8 and below) the quality drastically drops (sharpness & Chromatic Aberration) making useless taking pictures in resolutions above 8Mpx.

At f/5 the quality is great, But at this apperture I could use the 18-105 avoiding the need of changing the lens

Very happy with the lens.

It was my wife's first prime lens. She loves it and has been taking portraits with kit zoom lenses. Which has been good to her. But she was ready for a prime lens at a fixed 1.8 to really show what she could do with portraits.Read full review

Great Portrait Lens for DX

This is an incredibly sharp lens. I bought it for use on a DX (cropped image) camera so it has an effective focal lenghth of 75mm. I will use it as my go-to portrait lens.

Simple Prime

Though a bit narrower field of view on my crop frame Nikon 5300, this is still a versatile lens with nice large aperture for low light versatility and bokeh. Performance for price unmatched. As long as you do not need zoom, hard to beat this staple lens.Read full review
