Much Better Than the f/1.4d
I bought this because the f/1.4d lens doesn't do focus shifting on the D850. I also hated the haze I would get when light behind the subject hit the lens. The haze is still there, but, reduced. I understand this is a common flaw with the 50mm.Read full review

A must have lens for any Nikon mount.
Its light, its sharp and its a 1.8 which means excellent blurred backgrounds. The lack of IS is no problem.. I've got clear shots down to 1/100th of a second hand held. Images are sharp, crisp. This is definitely a stop up from the 50mm AF-D lens.Read full review

Beautiful lens with Nikon's amazing optics
This lens is fantastic! It has the same great optics as the standard 50mm F/1.8g wrapped in the cool new case emulating the classic lens style Nikon was known for. The silver metal band feels great with nice tactile grooves and a well-built feel. The focus ring also has a different rubber grip that is much grippier than the standard one. I love the look of this lens on my camera and the optics of course are fantastic. Definitely worth the extra money if you think this is a cool lens that stands out a bit more than the standard one.Read full review

One of Nikon’s best lens
The 50mm 1.8 is a wonderful, sharp, fast focusing lens. Better then the more expensive 1.4. I highly recommend it to all Nikon shooters.

Great Lens for Specific shots
Awesome, sharp image (way better than the standard 18-55mm). Just know it's not a very wide field of view. If you can imaging taking a photo of 4 people standing shoulder to shoulder, you'd have to stand quiet a ways back from them to fit them in.Read full review

Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens
Some people think it is as shap or sharper than the 50mm f/1.4. It's plenty fast for indoor shooting. On a DX camera (I'm using it on a D5100) it's about the equivalent to about a 70 - 80mm lens as far as field of view.
It makes a decent portrait lens on a DX. Some reviewers recommend this over the f1.4 because of its value. (It's half the price)
A great performing lens and inexpensive. What could be better than that?Read full review

great lens to have in your bag
I bought this lens to get some good boheka w/xmas lights, and just general background blur. Its been fantastic. This lens is inexpensive when you compare it to a 50m 1.4 that cost twice as much. And for most of us, you dont need that 0.4. So it's a terrific value.Read full review

A neded horse in my stable.
Excellent 50 mm Lens. 1.8 gives me enough light in sticky situations I learned photography with a 50 mm and needed one in my inventory. You don't have to get near as close to a subject with the Mega Pixel count these days. You can get great shots from your crops. This lens give me a sharp photo even at distances.Read full review

Excellent little lens
Bought it for my D750. I took it outside for testing a couple days after it arrived. The images it produces are very sharp, even at 1.8. Autofocus is fast. This lens produces excellent bokeh, and has an attractive sunstar at the narrower apertures. I highly recommend this lens, especially for how inexpensive it is.Read full review
