Bought a second one of these for my bedroom. After paying a fortune to sky for almost a decade I decided it was time to look for an alternative. Bought a now tv smart box and wasn't expecting much but it brilliant. It's got freeview and catch up TV which is what I wanted. You can buy passes once you've set up a now tv account. It rolls on month to month for each pass you want. You get 14 days free trial on movies, kids and entertainment when you join. I cancelled my rolling pass and bought some cheaper on eBay and you just add the voucher code and it gives you whatever the pass is. We reduced our monthly payment to Virgin Media by over £40 by deleting Sky Sports which we only use sporadically.

Excellent But .....
There is no doubt about it that the Now Tv box is a brilliant way of watching standard IP TV channels ..... BUT .... I wish they would just stick to a conventional menu system instead of their programmers showing off that they can create a non-standard flashy menu system.
I would still buy another even though I'd still be cursing the menu system.Read full review

Easy to use
You need to pay for the content month by month. I get Now TV for all the Sky Atlantic programmes I can’t get on my TiVo. The box makes it easy to use.

New Black Now tv box
I have bought two of these items, (one for my little office upstairs and the other for the downstairs lounge...) they are Never on at the same time....I only have two complaints.....The first is the very slow buffering between chapters etc, and the second is that generally the response to access is usually slow..( I have owned the old white box, and honestly there is not a lot of difference in performance).Sorry !!! there is a third' I find using the text procedure for signing in and searching etc a bit tiresome.I must add that all my TV 's and receiver/recorder boxes are top class and the signals here are very good. Noisy and hot
The box works really well, it's quick and the live freeview and pause/rewind is brilliant. However after 5 mins of use the box starts to think it's a drone or other small aircraft and then begins to heat up like it's being microwaved. I bought this for my bedroom but it's so loud the neighbours were complaining so it's now in the front room and I'm relegated to the stone ages of pauseless live TV again! great little box
bought this as we have an older tv without smart function, all we originally wanted was iplayer and hub but came with plex which is excellent. this worked straight from box to watching catch up in under 4 minutes fantastic bit of kit very fast and so easy to use . we didn't need to sign up to a contract just yet as box does all we need as it is although we might if the movie packages are reasonable. all in all an excellent product from an excellent seller.Read full review
