Great little media streamer

Based on Roku, this device is an ideal alternative to expensive Sky contracts... No dish, no expensive subs and no annual commitment. You don't get ALL Sky's channels, but the main ones you do. The device is small an unobtrusive, the remote is unremarkable but serviceable. The image quality is on par with Netflix and these devices work with normal aDSL. Apps can be added, a lot of them are 'junky' and probably of no interest. Keep in mind that Roku offers all the channels this does, but as this is Sky branded, Netflix app is not available but you can sideload Plex if you want to stream your 'downloaded' collection from your PC. Now tv box (REALLY ROKU)

You know, it's not often i'm amazed by a product but this little box really performs, gives great pictures 720 p hd quality, great app's, 2 months free movies came with mine and really enjoyable they were too. If you want to, read up about side loading plex or player.. (you don't have to do anything but if you do it's even more like a roku box,)
I have no trouble rating this product 5*

As of March 2017 they have stopped the plex app from working on the now tv box, rather sad since it just streams video's photo's and music from your main pc /laptop /tab etc...so I now change the rating to only 3 star,it is a very silly business that would wish to upset so many of its users.( you can still buy a real roku box that still does plex and much more besides (about £30 more)

Any TV can be a smart TV and have Sky Channels!

The Now TV box allows you access to Sky Entertainment channels for a reasonable £7.99 per month, which you can switch on or off as you like. So on for Game of Thrones, Billions, Ray Donovan and many other great programmes, and off if there is nothing you fancy. Also same deal (£9.99 per month though) to access Sky Cinema. The cheapest way to access Sky and no dish needed, so if you have a tree or building blocking the satellite dishes view you can still get the best of Sky. It also turns an old TV into a smart TV giving you access to numerous Apps and catch up TV. Having got it from ebay for less than £10 I feel it was money well spent.Read full review

Easy to use with great features

We’ve had Now TV boxes before and they are incredibly easy to set up and use. There are many features like You Tube and Sky that we do not use. We buy them to use BBC IPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4, My5 and UKTV. Our TV does not have a USB socket so the NOW TV box is the way to go using a HDMI connection. Brilliant product.Read full review

Cheap OTT

If you’re new to OTT and want to try before you buy something more substantial the Roku box is ideal.

Happy with upgrade

As they do not seem to be promoting or selling this product any more, I wasn't sure how good it would be. I bought it as an upgrade to the White Now TV box and am quite happy with the result. The only draw back is that it wasn't as easy/straightforward to set up as the White box because the TV instructions didn't match the online instructions and I had to use the Live Chat to get it sorted out. Yes it does work with your exisiting NowTV account

Problem with many of the new media service providers is that they depend upon forums to answer tech questions, don't read your requirements or complaints and never see anything as their fault or give you exactly what you need: I had read that this box would not run on your existing account.

So: you can use this to replace or upgrade your older Roku box - Roku make the equipment for NowTV.

I suffered from poor picture quality for ages before succeeding in syncing my Pioneer TV with the old box before the picture quality was acceptable. I suspect the TV was refusing to change it's parameters from default 508 dpi to at least the required 720 ish when it did - problem solved.

I use this later black box now and watch movies and pay for Skysports when my
team is playing.

The old box is now attached to my second TV. This is a so called smart Panasonic TV - so smart I've added the Now TV box to watch what I want to watch and not what Panasonic has managed to license. Until TV software and licenses are open and compatible with silver light et al, smart TV's are a very poor deal.

These x2 NowTV boxes, plus x2 PC's, up to 4 iphones and an ipad run on wireless. My minimum internet speed is only 7.5 meg up to around 17. I do encounter buffering during peak periods from time to time.

Interesting to note I seldom, if at all, have buffering issues when watching iPlayer of ITV hub through the NowTV box.

I like this set-up and for me it works well. Whether you opt to use the box for only freeview or take a package it is good value. Read full review
