Mission is to deliver the best sound possible

I think I was lucky to have found these speakers in...August. I normally use Monitor Canton. Wow!
The person I bought Mission from is a piano player, I did not know then but It felt like I was tuning in his timeline, musical knowledge, also I had noticed that there were 14 viewers at the time: that was telling me something too. These Missions are dated probably 1992, recently I had been looking at some top of range electrostatic at (preowned) £2.5! As audiophile amateur I can make a comment that with an old Alchemy interface+ DAC, a good CD player connected to it the sound is perfect. So Mission became live music. And it is Orchestra too in a sitting room, best track to test things like these is Handel's Dixit Dominus in my personal opinion. There is also an old school of Hifi here in UK, these Missions are part of it. Needless to say I have a big space, I have never been so pleased in my life!Read full review

The sows ear before the silk purse?

These Mission 753 tweeters fitted to their non "Freedom" models and mounted to rectangular as opposed to the later circular plates are rather unreliable and inclined to sound somewhat shrill and squeaky to say the least. Which is why Mission delivered the 753 Freedom with the upgraded tweeter. Manufactured in Denmark they are of similar construction to the tweeter featured in Missions 751's, the big difference being these are just 4 ohms resistance across the voice coil as opposed to 8 ohms in the 751's. This means fewer windings and greater heat, which sadly is the cause all too often of the 753 tweeters burning out. No longer available they are hard to come by and command high prices if you can find? Use a quality amplifier up to the job and ideally bi-amp to serve only the tweeters and avoid any temptation to push the amp towards its clipping point. Otherwise you can expect meltdown!Read full review

mission woofer

Exact replacement for an irreparable unit, and no substitute available from original equipment supplier. Excellent delivery arranged.
Was able to to carefully tease out cosmetic dent in dustcap [declared in advert].
Very satisfied with end result.

Fills spaces well but drivers hard to find

upside - well built, goof value

downside - those drivers are old and there's a lot to replace if they're shot.

sound ok but they're no Proacs; so long as you're not expecting miracles they do just fine. I do think the cheaper 752 edge them for sound quality so I'd look there instead Read full review
