Money well spent!!
This upgrade is extremely good. Put simply the light output is amazing and battery life in my 6cell maglight has quadrupled totally a sound investment on a old torch !! Bloody brilliant!!

Maglite LED conversion 3-6D cell, 1000lm/10w
Quality parts, well made construction. Installation instructions are not completely detailed, but with a little figuring out, installing the supplied new parts can be done.
The bright spot definitely is REALLY bright. The problem is, that when you change the reflector (and you need to, the LED is embedded into the new alu-frame reflector), you loose the ability to adjust the width/angle of the beam. You are left with a really bright, but very narrow/small light spot. Usefull for some, but not all purposes.
For this reason, I would probably select another solution next time, even if it meant loosing some Lumens.Read full review

1000-lumen "car headlight" performance for older 3D Maglites
One-piece integrated drop-in upgrade made of precisely machined aluminum, including highly-polished reflector, deeply-grooved heatsink, and optional aluminum spacer for fit. Performance is phenomenal, outperforming 1150-lumen "tactical" lights, throwing a tight and precise beam beyond 325 meters, while brightly illuminating a large outer fringe flood area. Fit perfectly into my 2010 3D Maglite, but did not fit the narrow head-interior profile of my ancient early-1980s 5D Maglite (I use the 290-lumen bulb-replacement upgrade for that 37-year-old Maglite). Virtually the only way to get to 1000 lumens with incandescent 3D-5D Maglites, with the added benefit of much longer runtimes using off-the-shelf D-cells instead of exotic and expensive batteries. The LED upgrade is also less prone to breakage than the old incandescent bulbs when using the flashlight as a cudgel when attempting to "reason" with an assailant.Read full review

More light than you’ll ever need !
Excellent! Brightness & Range . But only good value if it last’s, tis early days yet. My old 4 D cell’s Maglite torch is nearly 25yrs old , so if this 1200 lumen’s LED replacement bulb lasts anywhere near that time i’ll be well pleased, thank you very much.Read full review

Wanted to upgrade to modern Led to improve brightness & battery life. This little unit does both, light beam is set so you cannot adjust beam width. Had to really tighten head of torch down tight to make good contact with LED unit.
