Very Musical Pedal

Finally a distortion pedal with dynamic range and a noise gate. My guitar style and tones are primarily clean several gain stages with hint of chorus-wisp of flange, plenty of delay and reverb. Fuzz and distortion usually mask poor technique in my opinion. However EVH pedal tweeted can add soaring yet smooth sustain that colors tone with emotion. This is an extremely musical tool.
May You Rest In Peace Eddie.

I like it

Great tone which you can finger tap with and now I have got used to the noise gate, I love playing with it! Sounds great soloing over the top of my Boss DS-1 rhythms.
You can also do blues style, it’s versatile, I’m keeping it.Read full review

Goose Bumps

I sound like Eddie, now all I need to do is learn how to play like him! It gives that crisp distortion that Van Halen and AC/DC have and the "gate" feature works fantastic. I love it!. When it's time to go a little heavy this is my go to pedal!Read full review

Really good but

This is a really good distortion pedal but as far as getting Eddie Van Halen sound I think you’re going to have to have more than just the pedal for that. Your amp and your guitar and more specifically the pick up and your guitar are going to have a lot to do with that sound but overall it is a good sounding distortion pedal you can even get some really good light break up if you back the gain way downRead full review

How clean is your amp.

Adjustments are fast to how I play, Mr Van Halen has the sound. I am amazed by the simplicity of tech to bring me the tone of a great guitar player. I have used a lot of amps and acheived his type of tone, but this 5150 overdrive excludes most other, the pedal is worth the soundRead full review

Evh 5150

Overall cool pedal works best for rock and some metal plenty of gain- like the graphics. In my opinion would like more from mid and bass eq as it tends to sound more in the high frequency. I think it might be a little pricey just my thoughtsRead full review

Perfection in a box

This is a great pedal. Good saturation and has that brown sound of Eddie's that we all know and love. Absolutely worth the price tag.

Eddie's Sound

VH sound in a pedal. More of a distortion pedal than overdrive but the tone is wonderful. The noise gate is nice, subtle. Harmonics ring out easier even without the boost. If you love your amp but want to play around with his sound, this is your way in.Read full review

Gets you closer to that Marshall sound, without a Marshall

Really brightens up your driven sound, best to use a clean tone as your base sound.
You will get better pinch harmonics.
Has a wide range in Bass and Treble.
