Improvement on laptop headphone out

Definitely clearer sound than using laptop headphone out for DJing. This despite the laptop being marketed as having great sound with "Dolby Advanced Audio v2". It's only a slight improvement but you can hear it and that's with old ears. The Motu has enough gain, so don't need mixer and is bus powered. Only draws around 330mA from USB (I measured it), which is fine for even for USB 2.0. Very sturdy build quality.Read full review

Great interface. One issue though

This replaces a much bigger, more expensive audio interface (only need 2 inputs now not 8). Build is great. Feels very sturdy. The LCD screen is really useful and much more accurate than some lights. Sound is clear and balanced. Overall I really like it. One issue is that turning it off at the back makes my speakers pop really loud if I forget to turn them off first. They have power saving build in so am not used to having to powe them off manually first. If I forget I get a big shock. If this is bus powered by my Mac mini, the same thing happens when I turn it off. Solution to this is powering with a powered USB hub. I now just leave the M2 on all the time and my speakers auto-power off after 10 minutes. Can't imagine the M2 draws much power when idle. Not ideal but would rather spend a few pennies a day than ow out my speakers. Overall though, really great interface aoard from that. Read full review

Best by far in its price range

Being fairly new to home recording, I originally bought a mic and vocal preamp starter kit. I bought it purely for the condenser mic, and hadn’t given much thought to an audio interface. After noticing a lot of distortion (despite not clipping) I started to look into a better interface. The MOTU M2 had rave reviews in every video I watched, and after buying and using it, I can honestly say it is a phenomenal bit of kit! The LCD screen makes setting levels so easy, and thanks to the direct monitoring function, the major latency problem I had with my old set up, is a thing of the past. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced but high quality interface, you really can’t go wrong. Read full review

Simple changeover from Avid FireWire to the M2

I’ve had an Avid Mbox 3 for 8 years on a MacPro 2012 via FireWire, but with recent big upgrades to it and and all USB 3.1 set-up on it now, i got tired of FireWire falling over. Wish I’d done it sooner!! The MOTU M2 is absolutely fabulous. Took me 2mins to change over and reset the internal MacOSX Mojave, the audio and video software, Zoom, MS Teams etc al to the M2’s settings. Worked a charm.

The sound quality is absolutely studio/broadcast quality for inputs and outputs, via Sennheiser Reference headphones from the studio, plus my Yamaha Studio monitor speakers.

Love the bonus of the LED screen and audio meters for quick reference.

I spent hours going through the MOTU M2’s peers and I’m glad I did and ended up with this one.

For the price it’s a total steal. Just buy one!!!
