Best USB-C Dock out there ATM

The Lenovo 40AF0135UK USB-C docking station is built to a high standard, small yet comes with more inputs than most. The dock is compatible with any USB 3 laptop which support the display link driver with the help of the bundled USB-C to USB-A adapter (Laptop will not charge via the adaptor).

As with all USB docking stations the more powerful the laptop the better performance you will get as the majority of the graphics work is done here, but with this dock being 135w it will juice even most high performance gaming laptops and MacBooks Pros.

Pros:

- Laptop Charging via USB-C
- Device Charging via 1x USB-C and 1x USB-A
- 2x HDMI Out and 2x DP Out
- 4x USB 3.0 ports (3x USB-A 1x USB-C)
- USB-C to A adapter built into the host cable
- Works with webcams (even high end), microphones, USB-Extenders, KVMs, wireless keyboards and mice etc.
- Very reliable, will accept multiple changes of host in quick concession without crashing.

Cons

- Bundled USB-C to USB-C cable can cause problems with multiple devices or daisy chaining, to work around this simply purchase a good quality 100w rated USB-C to USB-C cable (3rd Party)
- Mac compatibility will take a little trial and error depending on the device, OS version and Driver, however we have managed to get all our various Macs using the dock, eventually. Far superior to the Hengedock solutions.

Doesn't provide charging but works fine otherwise.

Works fine - can only supply 65w via USBC so won't charge your laptop, still need to connect power supply separately.

But it works fine to add multi monitor and port replicator. Still faster to connect one cable than all separately.Read full review

Great if you can get it at a decent price

With everyone pretty much wfh, this Dock has made my set up a lot tidier when connecting to a works Lenovo T480. Just a simple driver update from the website and everything works nicely. Be sure to split the monitor connections to 2 separate columns, I stupidly put a hdmi and display port on the same connector column lol definitely not worth if you are paying over £200 for it, but if you can get it new for around £100, can't complain. Oh and being able to just plug in the USB-C is a first world problem solved 😉Read full review

Perfect solution if you need benefits of a laptop and a desktop PC all in one.

Its compact and ideal to prop the laptop on, It provides both display port and HDMI connections to enable use of at least two extra monitors (have not tried more than 2) and it will also power the laptop. The USB-A ports are handy for an external mouse and keyboard. One thing to be aware of - make sure its used with a 135W power supply if you want it to power your laptop via the USB-C port. It will power up with the 90W supply enabling the video ports and USB sockets but will not power the laptop.Read full review
