A most excellent LEGO set!
Very nearly LEGO's largest set, this monster assembly ticks almost all the boxes for an ambitious LEGO assembler or My Own Creation (MOC) designer. It has a very large number of parts to help fill any LEGO MOC designer's parts-bin; it has an involved and lengthy build; the final product is satisfying with a wide arrange of functions. For those who can't bear to dismantle their LEGO models it looks good as part of a collection of assemblies. Apart from one niggle (see below) the instructions are excellent.
There are some trivial negatives: As usual for modern LEGO sets the steering is limited in range and doesn't have Ackerman geometry. The wheels have no suspension. And finally - and worst for me - the instructions are printed in low-saturation colours that make it hard for me to distinguish blue and black parts. I have to make sure to ensure good lighting so I use the instructions. This is absolutely typical of all LEGO Technic instructions these days - LEGO seem to have picked a colour scheme and are sticking to it! (Maybe it's meant to make copying harder?)
I was aware of those minor downsides before I bought the kit, and went for it anyway - just as soon as I could afford it. I have had great pleasure assembling the model, and I am looking forward to adding to parts to my collection in the near future.
If you want a meaty, satisfying LEGO assembly experience then this is a kit to go for.Read full review

an interesting build for the Lego Technic Mobile Crane
the construction was as you would expect from lego. The construction in part is tedious and there are 6 books needed to complete the construction. Care and attention is needed to put the gearing together and don't try and skip bits. Some of the detail in the instructions could be better and some of it is long winded. the Construction is large and looks impressive. during construction you basically build the platform there is a lot of gearing that needs to be assembled for the raising and lowering of the outriggers. and for the steering. at the end of the first phase of the build (the crane platform) make sure you have all the gearing in place and it works manually.
Moving to the assembly of the crane drive and housing there is a lot of gearing I think this could have been simplified. when this construction is complete it fits onto the main chassis and the gear lock together. the motor and battery pack are assembled in the crain drive this is when you find out if it all works. In my case the crane drive worked fine. but the outriggers didnt work and it's a right pain to then work out why eventually you fix it and then move on to the jib or main crain arm. this is a reasonably straightforward assembly. and that's the build done.
2600 pcs quite a build and takes time to construct. Is it worth the money yes i think so.
Just a final thought it takes more time to take it apart than putting it together. I would also recommend purchasing some small plastic containers to put all the parts in i found it helpful to use small containers than plastic bags. Read full review

Good but needs slightly better instructions
This does what you you would expect from Lego Technic. However the build instructions could have been a bit clearer in places and in others the model would have been easier with a slightly changed build order.Read full review

A level above!
It's an old set, but has to be one of the best technics sets ever. Amazing gearbox design, so clever. Good play value once built. Amazing.

Super challenge
Just the best kit as always from Lego what can I say it goes together as you would expect then works. It's easy to work out modifications so becomes a flexible big boys toy but is great for educating young people on remote use and coordination.Read full review

Great product
This is one of the best Lego technic models I have ever built. The model itself is huge and took around 8 hours to complete! Great fun! Only problem I encountered was with the out riggers but that was down to my own fault. Overall I'd rate this model 10/10Read full review

Another amazing Lego model
Another great model from Lego - haven't built it yet, but looking forward to when I can get the chance but I know from previous Lego experiences, it will be amazing :)

Great technic model
A great model to build. Not for the amateur. Gear box is very complicated but satisfying to build as the entire model is powered by just one motor meaning involved and intriguing construction and power distribution. Concentrate on the gear box when assembling as a mistake will require disassembly and a restart. Clever double acting telescopic boom. Read full review

Technical Lego model making
This model is a terrific piece of kit I'm really enjoying putting it together
I started doing Lego with my children and went on to do the same with my grandchildren. I wanted to try something a lot more difficult and this model doesn't disappoint. Read full review
