Great skimmer

It has made a big difference clearing the dust, leaves etc., from the top layer of water and I think given the water more clarity.

My only compliant as many have said - it that for some reason the unit lifts out of the water.
There are a couple of reason given for this - for me, I think maybe the power of the pump is to high.
The unit can run without any issues.

I have added more foam in the basket which makes it work even better - it does need more attention if you do this though.Read full review

Wanted to remove chickweed & blanketweed from refurbished pond. Arrived in bits, abit fiddly to assemble as not all ' lugs ' would go into holes. Foam screen is far too coarse .. debris, baby newts & fry passes through & are ' liquidised ' or get lodged in foam. Used a fine clean kitchen cloth as extra primary filter .. saved newts & ' polished ' water quality & clarity .. needed to stand over it & remove debris constantly, at first .. now leave it & clean kitchen cloth 2 - 4 times a day as neededRead full review

Works well

Takes up quite a bit of space in a small pond but seems to do what it’s supposed to do and clears the surface of debris and dust. It needs cleaning out once or twice a week so must be somewhat effective. I recommend it. Read full review

Does the job as intended

having looked at the different skimmers available and being adverse to spending more then is needed I settled on this unit. It does have its moments when you suddenly find it high out of the water making gurgling noises but even the £100 plus models have their problems. As for the job its supposed to do it does collect up floating rubbish (leaves, flower petals etc) and as stated on other reviews it does need regular cleaning but as the filter is quite course is not quite up to removal of sediment in the water, maybe playing with a finer filter medium would improve results.Read full review

Useful addition to pond...

Although the skimmer does what it is supposed to, the body is too light and keeps rising out of the pond with a slight wind or disturbance from fish. I overcame the problem by tying a small bag of pebbles and attaching it to the power cable just underneath the skimmer. Skimmer now works great!Read full review

works well collects any any old food left by the fish and and leaves that happen to get blown onto the water.
It would be good if it could be made easier to empty once full.

Avoid

I have a small pond 3m x 4m bought this to keep pond clean. This skimmer is rubbish, you get what you pay for. Bought this skimmer a couple of days ago, it has been running three days, it blocks once a thin layer of leaves and duck weed covers the bottom of the basket and has to be cleaned every few hours. The pump is not is strong enough for pull the water through the basket.

Nice bit of kit

Nice skimmer and does the job. Only downfall is that it is light and tends to rise out of the water. To counteract this I did as other readers have done and tied a small bag of pebbles to the underside, this did the trick.
