Photo mount cutter set

Well made and very sharp blades but I didn't find it as easy to use as I thought it would be, if you haven't used one before then you definitely need to practice on some scrap board first.
Once mastered it does a very good job.

Better than cheaper items and worth the extra money.

Hard to use

The slider does not slide easily, tends to stick, and catches on the cuts made along other sides. Hard to get lined up correctly as cut is not up against ruler edge for 90 degree cuts. No way of knowing how much blade needs to be extended. Hard to get a single clean cut. Difficult to cut corners accurately as there is no indicator to know when to stop sliding. Easy to slide too far because the slider sticks and jerks. Very nearly a good product. Needed to use a scalpel as well to get satisfactory finish. Makes a mess of the front surface if first cut isn’t exactly right and a second pass is needed. I find the start of the cut is not straight. Probably better off buying a scalpel and a steel ruler with a sloping edge. Blades very sharp and comes with spares, but nowhere to store them! I’m sure I’ll get better as I use it more.Read full review

Mount cutter

The mount cutter is good quality but not super simple to use.. you have to practice quite a bit, especially for the angles. The 90 degre function is not very useful as it is easier to cut with a normal cutter and a ruler. It is a good product for the price and I would recommend it with some practice.Read full review

Jakar Mount cutter kit

Very difficult to use, lots of pressure required to get it to cut. I also found it difficult to see where to line up where to stop and start cutting. Cut out a simple square and wasn't happy with the results. I will use the ruler, but it will be the most expensive ruler I've ever owned.Read full review

Not fit for purpose

I read the reviews which were mixed and decided to take a chance that it might be a user fault. I am a seasoned 'crafter' and in my opinion the jakar mount cutter is not fit for purpose. I have decided to bite the bullet and purchase a Logan mount cutter instead which admitedly is a much more expensive item, but I think ultimately you get what you pay for . Save your money and forget this one.Read full review

Disappointing.

Sorry. Not able so far to give a positive reaction. Having practised with various kinds of card and paper, and following closely your recommended processes, it is not possible to maintain a smooth sliding action. The cutter invariably sticks at various points In the groove of the ruler leaving an uneven edge. Pity, l had high expectations for it and would hope a replacement would produce better results.

Picture Mount Cutter

The cutter is a quite basic plastic construction and not easy to use, but with a little practice it does the job. Good value under £20.

Could be much better....

When you try and cut at the 45 degrees setting the blade is too fine and flexible and will slide away from the set line , giving an uneven cut.
Blade needs to be a better , stronger steel. Hay ho get what you pay for.....Read full review

Great tool

Great quality tool. Needs a few try's to get it right, but once you get used to using it, does a great job.

Spend extra on one that works

The 45' cutter is useless, the blade moves about in the handset and cuts a very dogleg line.
the ruler is useful though.
