It does a good job for light or superficial scratches.

It's excellent for CD ROM's and games since the game part on a CD is at the beginning of it and the rest of a CD it doesn't really matter, because if it has some scratches is not going to affect how the game plays, so resurfacing the disc for a long period of time to take deep scratches off is ok since it won't affect it, but Movies, music and audio is a different story and you have to be careful not to resurface it to harshly because it won't play so read all the directions carefully before you use or decide to buy this machine. For me it works well because it does a good job polishing DVDs and it takes off the finger prints from the discs, so it saves me time, but it's not a miracle worker and would not make a nasty scratch disappear. with great power comes great responsibility

I purchased a large amount of video games from a used game store and needed a machine that could clean them without breaking the bank. This disk cleaner has received mixed reviews but it seemed like the best option in my price range.

I don't regret buying this but I will go ahead and say that you need to practice before actually cleaning disks you want to keep. I destroyed about 6 disks before I got the hang of it. I tested the machine on a variety of setting and kept notes on what exactly worked. The instructions provided suggested keeping the disk in for 2 minutes...which I found to be way to much time.

While using this machine I have noticed that certain disks seem to respond differently to sand paper, buffing solution and polishing solution. It's really just a lot of trial and error. Once I figured out what worked I had no problems.

I have primarily been cleaning playstation 2 games with light to moderate scratches all over the disk. The machine seems to get hot with continuous usage. I would run the disk for 20 seconds with the buffing solution, let it sit for 10 seconds, run the disk again with buffing solution for 10 seconds.

THEN. Run the disk with polishing solution for 20 seconds, let it sit for 10 seconds and run the disk again with polishing solution for 10 more seconds. ALWAYS USE THE SPRAY THAT COMES WITH THIS.

If you are looking to buy one of these, I would go ahead and suggest doing it. Just be aware that you will absolutely want to practice with a few junk discs. DOES NOT WORK FOR BLU RAY DISCS.

worth it and not worth it

At first glance this machine seems to be either a bargain or a toy. After buying one i'm both very pleased and disappointed. The entry price would be awesome if it was problem free but you get what you pay for. This machine will repair really bad scratches however it takes up to half an hour of repeat cycles. The machine has 4 pads and the design is velcro and so you are constantly changing pads non stop. On top of this you apply the paste manually. It gets messy. Further, the machine is not truly suitable for blu-rays that have any kind of scratch and most current generation games are blu-ray. That said it will repair my hundreds of scratched up games i have to the point of near perfection. It just takes a lot of managing. I am solving my problem by actually buying another machine and might buy up to 4 machines so i don't have to change pads since i envision the velcro becoming a problem longterm. For me, It gets the disc close enough to fully repaired it is worth the investment if you have a lot of games and cd's. In the end though my games will be going to the game store for a much reduced final repair at a gamestore. This machine is reducing my cost there from $3-4 each to a single dollar so I am happy doing the pre-repair at home. It is worth the investment from my standpoint. Not sure if i'd be happy with a solo machine tho. Read full review

Repair damaged CDs/DVDs pretty well

Although the learning curve on this item is not exceedingly steep, it is definitely not as easy to use as the advertisements would lead you to believe. Really all it takes is patience and several trials to do the job. Always take the least aggressive path first in trying to fix or repair your CD/DVD. Once you start removing the thin layer of plastic to make the CD readable again, you can't undo it. I have salvaged more than 30 CDs and most of them are now out of stock everywhere. It would have been very expensive to replace the CDs but this little machine made them like new again.Read full review

Save $$$$ Make $$$$

I take my cd's/games to a local game store to have them cleaned. They charge 3.00 a piece I took a look @ the machine they were using and it was a JFJ easy pro. So I went online and checked to see if Ebay had one and they did. The price was right so I purchased one. Now I don't have to my cd's/games to the local game store I can clean them myself. I had some cd's with some surface damage and the JFJ easy pro made them look practically new. So if you have some friends who need cd's/games repaired you can probably make a little.Read full review

JFJ Easy Pro

This is a must have for anyone who's a gamer, movie and or music collector or in my case have kids who love all the above. I have been looking for a good cd/dvd scratch repair product. I have tried so many with no luck. Then I came across the JFJ Easy Pro did some research and decided to give it a try and can not say enough about how well this unit does. It has taken even the worst scratched up dvd we had and made it playable. If anyone has an xbox 360 then you know how touchy they are about reading the disk, we have so many games that the kids destroyed from miss handling them I can't tell you how many we have just thrown out over the years. Last night I found one under one of their dressers this thing had so many deep scratches I was just going to toss it but first I said well lets just see how good the Easy Pro really is. Now I have only had this unit for 2 days and fixed 3-4 movies and 2-3 games so I was just experimenting with it and with in 10 mins Call of Duty was actually playing flawlessly in an old touchy xbox 360. That's what made me write a review now this is not a one step process it does take a few steps and I have seen some negative reviews about that but if the Easy Pro can bring back a 20-60 dollar game that would of ended up in the trash other wise these couple of steps you have to do is well worth it. All but one of the disks I have redone have worked and looked like new the one that didn't had a scratch all the way to the data and just as an fyi when I was done with it, it actually loaded and played until it got to the gouge. If you are even considering getting one do it you will not be disappointed.Read full review

Its definately a LEARNING CURVE. To master this..

I bought 1st one new with bonus or double pads, polishes, sanding discs. I LOVE it. I have seriously many 1000's of computer CD-ROMS, DVD'S, music CD'S, Sony Playstation 2 , 3 , and 4 game discs Blu-Ray discs... As you will notice the sanding discs are the "WET-DRY" type. You almost never need the coarse sanding discs. ( I never had to use them ) the fine discs are 600 grit. I also made discs using 800 grit and 1200 grit wet-dry sanding papers. I use a little water with the sanding discs. They last longer and stay cleaner than using them dry....
I also use 5 or 6 DROPS of water before adding white and blue polishes. Using my finger to spread water on buffing pads before adding polishes. You will not need to go into center of buffing disc with water or polishes about a half dollar size in center of buffing pad does not wear so you do not need to add polish to center of pads. With water, just a few drops, buffing pads seem to last much longer. When sanding I ONLY use the 10 second cycle. And if it needs more then another 10 seconds. Buffing I will use 20 seconds and if needed another 10 seconds. ##MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HEAT UP DISC YOUR RESURFACING## Sanding will make lots of friction and disc will heat up very fast. I have resurfaced PS 3 and 4 as well as Blu-Ray discs with great results using 800 or 1200 grit for 5 seconds. ( turning power off half way through 10 second cycle ) then white for 10 seconds and then blue for 10 seconds. I have yet to ruin a disc being resurfaced using this technique.. Loved it soo much bought extra buffing pads (20 pack) cut my own sanding discs with 3M wet-dry paper in 600, 800, 1200 grits. Bought another slightly used JFJ Easy-Pro machine . I got 2 machines now. FINALLY you need to keep the insides CLEAN. also clean between sanding and buffing especially. Paper towels work good with an old toothbrush but a regular old cotton towel works best... Use only JFJ brand polishes and pads. I know its expensive but you can make your own sanding discs using a little double sided tape and cutting a circles out of a sheet of 3M wet-dry sandpaper. If you have a giant collection of PC.software.games.DVD movies. Music CDs. Playstation X-Box and the like you NEED this machine. NOTE. If disc is scratched on the printed side and you can SEE.when you hold the.disc.up to the light. Specks, scratches and.light shining through. Discs are RUINED BEYOND RESURFACING. Discs are translucent but when you hold them up to light and you see.spots, lines , specks of printed side missing and light shines through these discs.can not be.saved.

Great Unit, easy to use.

This unit preforms very well, I do not understand why others say hard to operate. Read instructions, follow instructions and success. After two discs I had the process well established. I buy a number of CD's and DVD's from thrift stores and some make one wonder what people actually used the disc for. I have cleaned or rejuvenated over 24 questionable discs since receiving the unit all have cleaned up and play very well. I am listening to one which would not play earlier today.I consider this a great unit, easy to use, and well worth the investment. Read full review

Great machine for the price

I bought this machine 2 recondition CDs, DVDs and game discs to sell online. While it's not extraordinary fast to use, it's not extraordinaire Lee slow either. The time it takes to recondition a disc depends mostly on how damaged the disc is to begin with. I have not had it failed me yet, it has cleaned and reconditioned every disk I've thrown at it. I don't know what the long-term costs are going to be since I just purchased it but for the price it's fantastic.Read full review
