Super slide scanner at a spectacular price

This scanner is very easy to use and does a very good job of reproducing slides into digital pictures. It is not perfect, but for the price is very close. I scanned over a thousand slides in a day so the processing routine goes very smoothly once you learn the ropes. The slide carrier works like a charm once you get the hang of it and if the slides are in good shape.

One suggestion I have is to not do much adjusting with the machine and do needed correction on your post processing computer software. It is faster and more accurate that way than using the PIC 2.

Slow. Very very slow.

This is a very slow scanner. It scans one picture at a time and the first time I tried it, the picture got caught inside of the machine. If you have more than say 10 pictures to scan it would be much faster just to use an app for the phone and scan pictures manually. I am very sad I bought this. Ease of use to top feature.

First of all, this unit was not "new." It was well cared for and properly repackaged, but there is a photo inside the case that must have fallen off the carrier. The price was right however, so this is a non-problem. The resolution is good for a consumer product. Very easy to use and transfer to PC is seamless. No special software required.Read full review

Works with some effort

The ION scanner is easy to set up and works as advertised. However, if you have thousands of slides, it will be a bit cumbersome to change them in/out of the slide holder 5 at a time. The color and brightness (exposure values) are OK, but don't do more than general adjustments. Refined editing will have to come from another program.Read full review

A nice 35 mm scanner but not quite as good as the older models.

Bought this one to replace my older one that I wore out. I do like it very much, it does have pluses and minuses over my old one, more accurate when adjusting the light, a little less accurate on the scanning the pictures don't look as good.Read full review

Tons of slides!

This is a great little scanner. I bought it to scan my slides and negatives. I've scanned over 576 slides so far. It works great but the directions aren't that clear. Once I figured out how to put the slide holder in, I had no problem. I then transferred all the scans to my laptop. I would recommend this product, I like it.Read full review

SAVE your HISTORY !!

The instructions were easier to follow once looked up on U tube.. otherwise it wasn't very clear how to do the mode function, but once that was figured out, I really like the machine.
You can adjust colors on old photos and slides and they transfer easily to your computer with the USB cable.
I did over 300 slides and about 250 photo's, over the past few weekends a few hours each Saturday and transferred old newspaper clippings and other printed articles by holding in place with a clear sheet of plastic on the photo holder.
I'm glad I bought it and now can easily send the file to my family members to share.
I wish I could do 8x10 size but overall I love it.
Colors are pretty good once you play with the correction to adjust, just wished some of our photo's were in better condition.
I'm glad I got this, some of my photo's are over 75 years old and with black and white it actually helps enhance the photo when transferring by letting you adjust the light and dark shade of the photo.Read full review

Unusable for Photos

This item is suitable for slides and negatives, but does not work well at all for photo prints. Photos that are printed on glossy paper or that have darker areas will show a distinct reflection of the camera lens and surrounding area in the scanned pic. This can be reduced somewhat by manual setting control for darkening the scan with the loss of some photo detail. Manually tweaking each photo scan defeats the reason for purchasing this item: to quickly scan numerous prints. A very disappointing purchase.Read full review

Simple machine

The unit is quite simple to use, it doesn't take long to scan a picture or any thing that is put in place of a picture, (description of pictures etc). Easy to use and save those memories

I have lots of slides that I want to scan and this unit does a good job. I like that I can make color adjustments if the slide has a "pink" tone to it. My only complaint is I wish there was some way to fine tune the focus.Read full review
