Good for emulsion paints, perhaps not for gloss
Having used these type of products in the past, I thought I'd buy a better known brand than my original (unbranded) set.
Harris paint brushes have been around for decades, so I thought I'd try their pads for emulsioning a large hallway for my first project.
Paint pads take some getting used to, especially if you have been using brushes for a long time. In hot weather, (such as the most recent UK summer), paint tended to thicken much faster in the tin and roller tray, so you have to paint faster. I found that the paint on the pads also dried much faster - and this led to the pads sticking to the ceiling as you drag it across.
Pads therefore take some getting used to and because gloss paint is generally thicker than emulsion, I would not recommend these for gloss, but for emulsion, they are best suited to covering a darker colour with a lighter one because the paint applied is a thicker layer than if using a paint roller.
Useful tip: Don't drag the pads over paint that has started to dry as this will leave streaks, which are then very difficult to paint out!
The small pad could have been designed better, so that it could be used in tight spaces, like a small paint brush can be. Due to the handle being straight, in line with the pad, it's not easy to get into awkward corners.Read full review

Not for me
I found it harder to keep consistency in painting the walls and actually came out quite patchy. Prefer roller, but that may just be for me as I am used to the technique of rollers. In my case I wasted a lot of paint as it came of the pad in big splats and was much messier than the rollers usually do. Again, that may have been me but I ditched the pads after one room and went back to rolling.Read full review

Paint pads
Set is fine 2nd pad would be better if same type as large pad and a 2nd handle would help

Works well but could have bought it cheaper!
Hard to fault this purchase as it does work well. Paint pads are a much less messy option than rollers and brushes and cover larger areas easier and more quickly.
However, I paid something like £14 for this inc postage but notice B&M are selling the exact same thing for only £5.99 so understandably miffed at paying twice that much. :-(Read full review

Perfect
So easy to use and much quicker to paint a whole room. Only problem is that after a few washes, it starts coming apart. But it does the job, loved it

Just what I wanted
These set of paint pads came quickly and are good quality. I had a big staircase to do and a high ceiling and I just felt the roller to heavy for me. The paint pads are a dream and easy to use.

Saves SO MUCH time!
I bought this with a house move impending and having to put my current property back to its original standard. It took me less than 10 minutes to paint a 3 metre wide wall with perfect coverage. I'm going to buy some more for my painting team in the new house. Couldn't be happier!Read full review

Great finish
I made sure I had removed as many loose 'hairs' as possible before use and got a great finish. Really secure handle even when positioned at the edge of the pad to get behind radiators. Easy to clean. Tray could do with being a little wider. Really pleased overall as I hate the splatter from rollers and brushing takes too long. I'll always use these now.Read full review

Paint pad set
This paint pad set is very good for some jobs, emulsion small to medium areas, can't recommend it for gloss but works very well on water based paints and stained varnish. Work paint in from one direction then 90 degrees other direction to get good coverage. Wash with water and reuse. Will last years with careful use.Read full review
