I've ordered the same type of filter from different stores and noticed that sometimes the paper seems different. The last pack I had was a smooth paper and consequently it didn't work as well as a filter. The pack I bought from here is a rougher texture but that helps hold on to the grounds better so they don't pool at the bottom. Perhaps it filters differently as well. Hario are the best filters!

I have tried cheaper filters including a very well known brand and they have all failed with the dripper method. i.e.) the paper tears with the weight of the coffee and the hot water. The HARIO filters may be a bit pricey but they work a treat and I have not had a single one collapse on me! Definitely worth the money!Read full review
