Now that I do superfood smoothies for breakfast every morning, I use this Hamilton Beach Personal Blender every day. That's why I now have 4 of them, so I'm not constantly hand-washing the same cup and lid every day...it's okay for them to wait for a dishwasher load. But they're so compact, even having four takes up very little kitchen counter space, plus they're the perfect size and easy to use...and inexpensive! Works well enough for single servings

Very useful for single servings. Only problem is that unless pieces of fruit (strawberries, bananas) are cut up very small to begin with, they are not completely pulverized during the blending process. I am always afraid to let the motor go for more than 30 seconds at most, because it tends to heat up, and I am afraid of damaging it.Read full review

As long as you don't expect full featured blender capabilities, this one will make smoothies with the best of them. Just make sure to put the liquids in first before the fruit/ice/etc.
