A thought provoking and action packed war film.
Being of the generation that had a grandfather serve in world war two i have always had an avid interest in this genre of film. The film is an amazing piece of work and initially i was trying to avoid the film as it was based on the army experiences of a soldier who refused to bear arms for his country. As the plot unfolded i realised his deep seated beliefs and why he chose to do this. His path was obviously more difficult than the average GI and he was persecuted and prosecuted. He eventually went to war as a medic and saved many lives with an extraordinary display of courage. The combat sequences were amongst the best on film i have ever seen. If anyone is interested in world war two history this is a must but is also a film that everyone should watch. I highly recommend this DVD.Read full review

Hacksaw Ridge DVD (2017)
Picked this up for around £5...was eager to watch this movie after reading loads of reviews (they either loved it or found it to be completely unrealistic)...I found it to be interesting enough...enjoyable enough to join my movie collection...as to how realistic or historically accurate it is...well I'll leave that for the real troops to debate...I'd rather enjoy a movie for what it is than end up suffering from PTSD or PTSS because it was so disturbingly real!Read full review

The movie which is based on a true story is a movie that I've watched a couple of times because it's entertaining, emotional, there are many things to be said about this movie.

Great film , very realistic, a well worth a watch film.
A great film by the legend that is Mel Gibson. Based on a true story about a seventh day adventist who wants to be a medic only in the army due to his Christian beliefs. And what he has to endure because of this belief, but this virtue is carried in other ways throughout the film. He's a man of conviction and saves so many of his fellow men without berring arms. Graphically a great film and just an alive realistic film. Few and far between type of film. So yea highly recommended. Read full review

Worth watching.
Based on a true story about a young US Army soldier during the Second World War, who chooses to become a combat medic, rather than kill the enemy. Well made, with plenty of battle action later in the film.... You can show bravery & courage under fire, without carrying a weapon.Read full review

Very engrossing.
It was a little bit difficult to understand at the beginning but as the film went on it became clearer why the main character behaved as he did. There was a lot of very noisy military action in the second half, but as the film progressed it became riveting. A lot of blood and thunder with a very satisfactory ending.Read full review
