Amazing value, great product
Very good picture quality, amazing value! Only improvement would be to add more output screen resolutions, my monitor was not good enough for the 1080p so had to buy a converter.
Still love it.....

Cheap, cheerful, but no Red Button facilities.
There are slightly different models of this unit being sold on Ebay. Some have Wi-fi; some have (wired) Ethernet; some have different AV sockets at the back; some use a adapter, some have mains straight into the back. They all appear to be called the same thing, so beware.
This unit seems to have menu options for Wi-Fi built in, but they are mostly greyed out. The menu entry which supposedly brings up the list of networks to connect to just keeps saying, "Please try again." (The Mac address of the unit purports to be 00-22-33-44-FF, which supports the idea that the Wi-Fi isn't supposed to work in this version of the unit, but this should be made clearer.)
To confuse things further, the instruction leaflet keeps talking about wired Ethernet when this unit has no Ethernet socket!
The other biggie is that the unit doesn't do Red Button. It has support for "Teletext" but this seems to be the old style CEEFAX/ORACLE system (which is still used in Germany, for which country the unit seems primarily aimed). This means you also won't be able to switch between matches on e.g. Wimbledon as this requires Red Button. Subtitles work though, as does the EPG.
The instruction leaflet is very poor. It is written in pidgin English (the unit is Chinese) and is of the, "To change channels, press the Channels Change button," school of thought, and it's clear the manual writer doesn't really know how to operate the more obtuse features of the unit.
The Factory Reset needs a password. Mine didn't come with one, so I plumped for 0000 and it worked!
Aside from the above grumbles, the unit does what it says. The power-supply is European (i.e. two pin) but mine came with an adapter for a UK three-pin socket. It comes with a 3xRCA lead (composite + audio) but you will need your own HDMI cable if you want to use that. As usual, the "manual" rattles on about SCART when the unit doesn't have SCART - it is either SD composite down RCA old school, or HDMI.Read full review

HD fine but has issues.
It found all the HD channels, the picture was fine and it recorded programs fine. However, it automatically switched subtitles back on despite switching them off on the handset and in the Config menu. Recording a program was difficult as it did not propagate the recording fields when you selected the program you wanted to schedule. You had to remember the Start/Stop times and channel nos and enter them by hand. Even my old August unit which it was replacing could manage that. Fast forwarding a recorded program too fast threw it into a meltdown and I had to power the unit off. So, if you just want to look at HD channels and put up with its ambiguities, it may be OK for you but I would not recommend it.Read full review

RUBBISH, save your money.
Cables supplied have no instructions where to plug into. The machine will `boot` and then give time. No signals received. Comes with German type two pin or foreign plug with adapter ???????. You will need another cable not supplied, for in and out for Arial.(AV/RCA CABLE).Read full review

Brought old tv back to life.
Bought this as rescued old tv in loft that did not have freeview, connected up worked a treat. Very easy to set up. Most tv’s have freeview nowadays so this item will probably be obsolete soon. Glad I got it tho.Read full review

Cheap but made me cheerful!
In these days of Covid19 lockdown my shed is my sanctuary but then my DTV box wouldn't update the channels. I needed a cheap (don't use it much) replacement. This was my choice and i am well pleased, does all I want the latest freeview channels for my shed tv and the added advantage of a usb socket to take MP3 music from my personal collection rather than repetitive off air music stations. Lockdown is not so bad now.......Read full review

Freebies box
It works well.
It would be better if the programme guide was able to be browsed without changing the channel when you change it up or down.
And being able to watch a different channel when recording programmes. Otherwise it does what it’s su to doRead full review
