When it comes to the remote controlling the TV, it only has 6 codes for each brand. Unfortunately I cannot use the remote to control my JVC TV.

However I did manage to connect it to the LG sound Bar. So I can control the volume.

Great experience, easy to use GUI and adds future proof smart TV connectivity to bog standard HDMI TVs.

The standard ChromeCast is great but it’s pretty naff as it’s just adds a kind of wireless connectivity to a device. I’m glad to say the ChromeCast with TV goes that one stage further and adds smart TV applications and a fun to use GUI (graphical user interface). After initial registration to the various services you’re free to roam BBC iPlayer to Netflix to VLC. Tech savvy people will have no problems streaming all their media via a Samba server in no time whatsoever. It’s really quite powerful and gives insight into streaming IPTV service too. Google TV is great.

Coming from a previous Chromecast, first generation, I was really looking forward for the latest iteration of this Google marvel. And it doesn't disappoint. It's quick, it's intelligent, it's a great addition to your TV. And my TV it's already "intelligent" but it gives me a few more options. One of them it's Plex. Easy to use and set up. Performs well. The remote is super convienient.

The only things I don't like is I can't pin my regular apps to the main screen - the default view is 'we recommend' and the recommendations are spread across many apps, some of which I am not signed up for and have no intention of ever doing so.

Also the option to display all my photos is concerning. I think I have it turned off, but I certainly don't want my photos displayed on TV!

Well-performing device, but the instructions are woeful.

As usual with many modern devices, the included 'instructions' are virtually useless. Four small pages of minimal information do not constitute an adequate user guide. What is the Chromecast supposed to do? How are its functions accessed? The Google Home App doesn't explain this either. Where are the details of how to 'cast' music/videos to your TV? How do you return to normal TV mode?
Being a fairly savvy tech guy, I managed to answer all these questions by myself.
Google should not assume people are upgrading from the previous Chromecast or are an AV expert. Read full review

Great quality, slow to setup and I am quite tech savvy

Took quite a while getting it connected. Works really well though.

What I dont like is the small size of the controller, I didn't think I had particularly big hands! Plus when connected to a bluetooth module, the volume on the controller is off or about 75%. I have to use the Google Home app on the phone for fine adjustment of volume.

Otherwise very happy, great way of turning a monitor or a projector into a TV when needed.
