have a patinaed truck I was considering clearing over the rust until I searched and found a recommendation to use Gibbs on the rusty metal. Gave it try and it works great! Sheds water like it has a coat of wax on it. Works better than WD40 and penetrates as well or better than PB Blaster. I like that it will reach out and hit the object your trying spray but you still can dribble it out and have a drop land on a rusty bolt.
I reordered and use it daily.

Spendy but good stuff.
I use it as rust protection on an old F-100 to protect what's left of the paint and hopefully stop or slow future rust issues.
It's the only thing I've found that didn't leave a sticky mess for dirt to stick to or leave wax residue . It seems to work great on rubber as well and soaked in leaving a clean factory look to tires and windows trim. Water rolls off the rough, rusty paint sort of like RainX on Windows.Read full review

Gibbs lubricant is the most versatile lube that I have ever used.
Gibbs lubricant is what it claims to be. It has an excellent light visciosity and also is a super penetrant that breaks through rusted joints as well as hardened oils on ageing equipment. It provides rust proofing and can be used as a leather and plastic dressing. I keep a can in the house and in two outbuildings with a couple of spares as back up when a can runs out.Read full review

Great lube! I have used several cans.
Besides a wide variety of lubrication uses, I like how it claims you could paint over it. While I would thoroughly clean with solvent before painting an item, the idea it is not so sensitive to some reside is helpful. Many lubes have silicone where this one must not. Any silicone residue can be hard to get rid of. Also works great as a preservative over ferrous and non-ferrous metals.Read full review

Excellent in preserving bare or machined metal over long periods of time. Once its dry it ads a fine moisture barrier and is even paintable. I've actually used it as a sort of primer before painting to achieve an extra level of protection should the paint become scratched.Read full review
