Had no idea cameras were this good a this price point.
This is my 7th digital camera. Before I bought this one I made a list of 21 features I really wanted, but are often lacking on digital cameras. This had all but one of those features (I wanted it to use AA batteries, this does not). It has many other features that are great, but not on my list of must haves. If you want a camera will lots of feature and a fair price, investigate this one. the 50X optical zoom is amazing. The camera is very rugged, and is dust & weather seal, a nice feature I was not looking for. I read online, that the images have noise in them, maybe that was true at the time of older reviews, or maybe I just good a good one. Going to put two images with this review. One shows two pictures of the same view, but at extremes of it's zoom - 24mm & 1200mm as 35mm equivalents, looking at a house, and zoomed into a drive way lamp, notice the detail in the zoomed part of that view. The other picture is of the moon, this was without the use of a tripod, not retouching, and no auxiliary lenses just a point and shoot picture, not perfect, but pretty darned good.Read full review

Super Depth of Field
This camera was bought as an exact replacement for a camera I have been using for the past six years. I am an "experienced" amateur photographer who loves to take photos but dislikes having to figure out apertures and f-stops, etc. This camera is the BEST at sophisticated point and shoot operations. The zoom capability and the clarity of photos is amazing. Size and weight make it relatively easy to be as still as possible although this is a very forgiving product. I rarely move the controls off automatic and have won a prize at my local photo club based primarily on the camera's ability to convert my composition skills into beautiful results. Depth of field is the best I've ever seen even in some of the more expensive and sophisticated cameras on the market.Read full review

Loaded with features!
I have two LUMIX high end cameras that are quite good with lenses by Leica. With that being said the FujiFilm S4000 is a very good camera. What I really like about is it requires (4) AA batteries. You can get them anywhere in the world. This is a plus where you don’t have to bring a quantity of extra batteries and chargers. The photos are of very good quality, however the video capabilities are limited. All in all a nice camera that is easy to use. Love it!Read full review

Great Bridge Camera, easy to use, great zoom, pretty fast.
This is a great bridge camera. The lag is small. The zoom works great out to about 43-47x or so.
It is simply loaded with features, yet is easy to use on auto.
Probably one of the best Point and Shoot cameras out there.
I purchased this as a "canoe camera" because of the water-resistant feature (not tested yet, mainly to withstand splashing) but it has become my favorite. There may be better cameras on the market now, but it was a great deal on Ebay.
Not a pocket camera. But I do semi-pro photography for articles I write, and this camera is significantly easier to use than previous bridge cameras. Technology is constantly improving. Read full review

Very Good Super Macro / Ultrazoom Camera
You get the best shots when shooting outdoors in daylight. Whether you are shooting super macro or ultra zoom, you can get incredibly close to your subject and end up with pictures that are vibrant and sharp. The only reason I didn't give the camera five stars is that it lacks a little something for indoor shooting. The image on the EVF and on the screen was somewhat dim in low-light conditions, making it difficult to tell whether the camera was focusing properly or not. The pictures didn't turn out badly, in fact most were quite good, but I would have liked to be able to see them better before clicking the shutter.Read full review

Easy picture taking experience.
Have had camera for over a year and a half and enjoyed the simplicity of using the camera on 2 lengthy vacations as well as quick photos of the Grandkids. No extra lenses to carry or interchange and very good auto as well as manual setting photos. If your not going to be blowing up a lot of Pics. to 11x14 and larger you should be happy with the cameras' price and quality. Would give 4 1/2 stars if I could because it serves a niche very well that other cameras dont. Ease of use of telephoto and quality photos.Read full review
Fujifilm S1 bridge camera
Perfect size bride camera, good grip, feels very good in hands. Electric zoom is silent, rear screen is clear and precise! At full zoom (50x) you get a really good image quality ! Better than my previous Hs50exr. Overall, I am very happy about my upgrade ! I recommend that one !!!Read full review

fuji
I have an older model fuji camera and it has done well by me. The new one is not too different to use. It has more features, which can be interesting. Light weight and weather resistant helped make the choice. I am sure I will enjoy it.Read full review

The features of this camera put all the other bridge/super zooms to shame!
I have had Canon cameras for so long, always loved them - and was going to buy the new SX60 - felt disappointed it didn't have things like time laps/interval shooting, or panorama, or great remote shooting options (apart from the basic). the new one has a great zoom, so I was sure I'd buy it when I could afford it. I happened to buy a Fujifilm XP80 for underwater shooting (great price at BJs), and was blown away by the features! Slow motion AND super slow motion video AND SUPER SUPER SLOW MOTION!!!! plus time lapse/interval shooting, plus so many other features that even expensive Canons didn't have - so I decided to investigate the Fujifilm super zooms. I looked at the Fujifilm Finepix S1 because I wanted wifi option too. UNBELIEVABLE features! Zoom x50 (intelligent zoom x100), RAIN RESISTANT!!!! (so you don't mind getting caught in a storm) - time lapse, RAW!!! YES RAW PHOTOS!!!, WIFI, slow motion, super slow motion, panorama - and the remote shooting options are GREAT - they give you plenty of things to do through your smart phone (not just point and shoot) - has a great tilt screen and electronic view finder - the photo quality is great - I found on automatic, the low light photos in the house weren't great - so I decided to use one of the great features on the camera - specially for low light - could not believe the difference. Fantastic. I swore I'd never leave Canon but honestly, when I saw what this could do that the most expensive Canon superzoom couldn't - it was a no-brainer. Even on my XP80, the time lapse is so much fun - my niece and nephew always pull faces for the camera - can never get natural shots of them - so I put it outside on tripod, set the interval timer, when they were fishing and jumping on trampoline, and the results were fantastic. Great natural shots, even when it poured down, this XP80 is waterproof (I use it for snorkeling and diving) so I wasn't worried - I am now a devoted Fujifilmite from now on. Great features, easy to use if you're a beginner or if you're super-advanced, great manual control too - I just love it. Too many features to list here. And let me say again, jpg and RAW! I tried the color feature too - set it to red, and the photo was completely black and white apart from my red dress! Same with Green - only grass and trees showed up - it's so much fun - special effects too.... it's really excellent. Yes I sacrificed the 65x zoom of the Canon for this mere 50x, but could not be happier. Much rather have the other options Fuji offers than a better zoom and fewer options. love love LOVE my fujifilm. If you're undecided about which camera to buy - do investigate Fufifilm before you buy anything, you'll love it. Read full review
