Is it really the end? with Hilda from S.O.E. and NOW M.I whatever dead at her own hands, and over the last few series with Foyle getting stck into his role with intelligence, thsis truly could go further, with foyle climbing up the ranks!
It was a shame that the war time stories got well cut short, many more episodes could have beeen penned and filmed.
All round great programme, Sam is pregnant by her M.P. Husband, Hilda Dead, what could happen, a 10 year gap, then come back in a cold war type of story? it could work, Sam was always game. this possible last set is the one not to be missedRead full review

The last two series (8 & 9) being post WW2 - entering the cold war period sees Foyle recruited into the Intelligent Service. He remains fiercely insistent on following the rule of law to secure justice, placing him in a somewhat maverick position within the Intelligence Services. Charismatic as ever, the role is played superbly (as are all of the supporting roles) - and the plots are not unnecessarily convoluted. All the individual characterisations are engaging and well developed, as are the relationships between characters. As with the entire Foyle's war, this is tv drama that may be watched more than just once.Read full review

Each evening l have so enjoyed the absorbing two hour atmosphere of each episode, watching all series over a period of weeks. l am now bereft to have got to the dramatic final episode (for now?) Series 8 appears to be the last.
I am praying Anthony Horowitz writes more, as do his many followers around the globe, having proudly read the excellent online reviews from the appreciative American followers of our best British dramas.

We had the whole series except for season 8 which we were going to watch over Christmas. That plan failed just finished the last episode tonight! Don’t do dramas like this any more which is a pity.
