Very pleased with the Fireangel ST-622Q
I bought the Fireangel ST-622Q because the previous one I had lasted for 11 years! So, considering yearly replacement battery costs for cheaper options, this type can be excellent value. This one also fitted the existing backing plate from the earlier model so I didn't need to change that, which made replacing the unit easy and quick. I'll probably replace my other, 'normal' style, smoke alarms with this type now, when the batteries need replacing.Read full review

Let down by battery
I have bought this as a temporary measure to replace two identical ones in which the batteries have failed after only five years out of the supposed life span of ten years. They work very well as smoke alarms, only going off if there is a genuine hazard. The bleep readily attracts one's attention, but this is very annoying when it happens at short intervals as the batteries begin to fail. Somewhere in the manual it does say that the batteries may not last ten years, but this should be made more obvious in the advertising.

Beware spiders
It's a decent alarm, slim, easy fit, has 10 year sealed battery life so the whole unit must be replaced when the battery goes, only downside is that spiders and flies can get into the sensor and this sets the alarm off, took me a couple of days to work this out, but the main unit just twists off the base for cleaning... Great Item
The great selling point for this alarm is the 10 year battery life. You can now say farewell to being woken at 3am by your smoke alarm beeping it's little heart out to tell you it is time to replace it's 9v battery. It is also designed to ignore burning toast. I can vouch for the efficiency of this as I managed to cremate a couple of waffles in my toaster and the alarm remained silent. Go buy one!
