Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer is excellent

The Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer is excellent for printing photos and not too expensive for daily printing. I have used Epson photo stylus printers for years and they are workhorses that provide solid quality. My most recent Epson R200 lasted for about 10 years. The R300 uses 6 Epson T048x ink cartridges that are individually replaceable. It will not print ultimate top quality archival fine art prints, but if you use Epson papers, it will print very high quality, bright photos that are light and smudge resistant. For printing most photos, I prefer it to many of the newer all-in-one printers. It is discontinued and you can often find a working used or refurbished one for about $100 or so.Read full review

A very well-built printer that makes great color prints

This printer seems very well built and the fact that it uses six cartridges is a plus for me. The main reason we like it is that it makes extremely good color photos. It can be somewhat prone to occasional print head clogging, so you use the head cleaning protocol to take care of that. You can get a little electronic tool to reset the print cartridges' memory, so that you can use the cartridges until they are truly empty. You have to remember, though, that if that cartridge runs out during printing, the printer will continue on, finishing a worthless print. Eventually, the printer will give a warning of a total failure, due to the number of prints it has made, and the supposition that the excess ink overflow catch basin is full. There are fixes for this on Youtube, which I have done a few times. The excess ink is diverted to a catch bottle and the printer is "reset" and you can continue. The computer shop repair for this costs about as much as the printer is worth. You can get tubing at a pet store that sells aquarium supplies. It works very well. See Youtube.Read full review
