Compact with great features

After doing my research and reading loads of customer reviews l decided to purchase the Epson XP-8600. and I've not been disappointed. Very easy to set up, in fact it was virtually plug and play. The two paper feed trays work very well and cut out the need to keep changing different paper sizes. The duplex printing feature works really well. But the main reason l chose this printer was for the photo printing quality and I've not been disappointed in fact I'm absolutely delighted with the results, having printed on both postcard size and A4 size the results are brilliant. WiFi set up was a doddle, even for a dummy like myself. All in all this printer is in my opinion an excellent choice for anyone looking for a good quality and reasonably inexpensive machineRead full review

Good photo quality, simple controls.

Software installation was straightforward and intuitive with USB connection but I found the direct WiFi mode - which I need - quite hard to get working. The available documentation about this mode isn't very good. However, I've got it working now and I'm pleased with the print quality. I haven't needed to buy more ink yet: it looks very expensive, but we'll see.Read full review

Excellent Printer/Scanner but Expensive to Run

Excellent service, received in 2 days. Unit has slightly smaller footprint than my previous Canon printer which is a good thing, and was easy to setup via USB. Print quality is excellent, have printer two 5 x7 in photos on quality photo paper - one black and white the other colour and both are very good. The prime reason for purchasing this model printer/scanner was for the superior specification of the scanner, a test at A4 size of a full colour magazine page showed the quality to be limited only by the quality of the original. allowing me to dispense with my flatbed scanner which was also faulty. So whats not to like - the eye watering cost of replacement ink cartridges, looks like I shall be forced to try an OEM source.Read full review

A good all-round printer scanner.

I bought this to replace an Epson PX730WD, which failed after 8+ years of good service. The XP-8600 proved to be an excellent replacement, having all of the functions (including automatic double-sided printing). There is a useful series of explanatory videos on YouTube, which cover from unboxing (and removing all the transport packaging), initiallising and setting up, through to using individual functions - so I had a clear idea how to proceed before receiving the new printer. The downloadable (and online) manual is a handy reminder. I have used all the functions, with good results. Printing documents with initial setting is fast and quiet. Happy I bought this product.Read full review

New Printer wow!!

Ok my old printer had seen its days out, wanted something to give me high quality photo prints so looked on line and came up with this.

First of all may i say it was not my first choice but the only one in my short list available.

Un packing and set up was relatively easy, plenty of transit sticky fasteners, inserting the inks very easy, followed instructions and got my test print done.
I did find the trays a tad fiddly and didn’t feel exactly top class, very flimsy, the flaps front and rear also felt flimsy too, so gentle use needed.

Connecting to wi-fi quick and easy same with the phone, only basic hard copy instructions provided, but once registered etc full manual available on line.

Down to the print quality, i purchased in advance semi gloss paper for my use, although had no idea what suits this printer best, but the results were pretty good, i’m no expert but in comparison these were good quality prints albeit a tad slow.
I did have an issue with the colours being to rich but quickly sorted in the settings, the other thing was it was reducing the image on the A4 size, again this was sorted quickly in the print settings.
All in all it is quite compact, tray is loaded on the front and dispersed into a automated tray holder on the front (make sure you have clear space at front) the tray comes out automatically.
Theres loads of permutations in what size paper you can use up-to A4 including envelopes, stickers, CD,s
You even get told when to order new cartridges, don’t know how accurate that is though.
So far i’m very pleased with the print quality, thats what i purchased this for, will it last the test of time remains to be seen.

Brilliant quality photos, not bad on ink I have printed loads and still lots of ink left, very easy to use and set up. So glad I waited for this and didn’t buy alternative Read full review

Great for card

I wanted a printer that would take thick card. This does, and quickly too!!

Not the quietest, but is quick and compact. Colours are good. Not sure how much starter ink there is but we’ve printed over 100 Xmas cards on it. On thick embossed card too. A really great buy. Read full review

Great all in one Cd tray can be temperamental to load and is difficult to set up.

I bought this to print Cds as I already have a printer all in one. It does the job but the tray cab be temperamental and sometimes does not load the CD>

Best printer I have had in 20 years

What can I say about this printer, it has a small foot print, and is so quiet, I have to listen close to see if it is working, WOW it is quiet.
the quality of the photo printing is outstanding, quite far beyond any printers I have had before.
crisp clear, and colours outstanding.
On the down side, it was a nightmare getting it to work with the installation disc, but in the end it sorted itself out, " very space age "
