This has more useful features than ones costing $30-50, and therefore learning to use it is a little more complex, but the instructions are clear and uTube videos plentiful. I needed a wide range of stimulus to control my BC's urge to chase deer in a rural setting which would involve him ending up 3 miles away. On the 2nd day of wearing it he started to chase 3 javelina. Without any significant harm to the dog he stopped the chase within 30 seconds. Probably sounds cruel if you haven't seen what a javelina can do to a dog. Well designed and well built. The layout of the control buttons is well thought out. The controls themselves provide great flexibility in training. Excellent mini-educator e collar

One of my dogs who is very stubborn has been training with this collar for about 5 days. He is making quick progress! Amazing results in just 5 days. Can't wait to see his progress in a month or two. Just make sure that you put the collar on tight enough or it will not be effective. He is about 75lbs and works on a level 2-4 in the fenced yard. Outside of fence with only small distractions, he works on a 6-7. Haven't had to go over a 15 yet at all. Also make sure you watch some videos of how to get them (and yourself) used to the collar before diving into training. Collar also has a blinking light or solid white light for use at night so you can see where your dog is. It's waterproof (as long as charging ports are closed). Also one charger for both collar and remote and they charge at the same time. We love this thing so far! Just make sure that you work with your dog at least once or twice per day with it until they totally get what it means to them. My dog already gets excited to "work" every day. He did not want to at first. Spend the money on this collar instead of a cheap one. Two thumbs way up.Read full review

I should have purchased this one from the beginning.

Have tried 2 different e collars that were much less expensive. I wish I would have bought this one initially. The quality of everything is much better. It does not run hot meaning the controls are much more accurate it is training my dog rather than hurting my dog.Read full review

Best Control Ever

As an older person with a large prey-driven dog, I find the Educator very effective. I use it on light settings (read the manual) to stop my dog from dragging me after rabbits and squirrels.

Last resort

I live next to a busy highway and I have to keep my dog in a large area in my yard. He minds very well while on the leash and normally obeys while off the leash. On occasion he will get excited and distracted and not come to me on command and has gotten in the busy highway twice. I ordered the e-collar and watched videos on the proper way to use it and the first time out he acted perfectly when he was distracted and I called him back. I am still working with him but so far I am batting 100% with him answering commands. Two suggestions:
1. Tighten the collar tight so it will touch the skin and you can put two fingers underneath the collar.
