Ditch the electric airer - This Is Better Than We Thought
EBAC 2650e
We wanted an airer for drying clothes indoors, perhaps one of those £40 electric ones from Aldi/Lidl that some “Internet Influencers” seem to think are worthwhile. Mrs M thought this was a great idea, and I was going along with this thought until I thought about it.
Drying clothes indoors means that you are making the atmosphere damp, and hence increasing the potential for mould in the house, which is already a small issue here. The drying process of clothes means that you are reducing the level of moisture in them, and so, thinking long term, I started to research EBAC De-Humidifiers.
Having purchased the E2650e, we are amazed at how much latent moisture there is in the house, and best of all, by placing a standard clothes airer in close proximity to the 2650e, it partially heats the clothes as well as removes the moisture.
It’s not a massive source of heat but put it this way, a medium load of laundry is dry within 5 hours of hanging and the moisture is caught by the device and not the carpet/walls etc.
It does make a humming noise, even when on the low setting, but it’s no worse than some Personal Computer Fans. It’s compact and fits under a dining table with ease.
And now to the BIGGIE.
Economy: We were, with the price hikes, hitting £8 of electricity use each day with the tumble drier running once. By using the E2650e our daily electric bill is back down to under £5. In effect, the E2650e will pay for itself in less than 90 winter days. Plus, the air in the house is much drier, so much so that when going into a room that has been closed off from it’s effect, I can physically sense the difference.
Don’t buy an electric airer from Lakeland for £140. Pay £270 or one of these and feel the benefit in more ways than just dry clothes. Read full review...

Very effective
Before I invested in an Ebac my house smelled like a damp old church. This is my third Ebac. I have had other makes in between but these always last longer- sadly all dehumidifiers have a relatively short life span I’ve found! When they’re new you can have them on and you can’t hear them. Over time they start sounding like a loud fridge they rattle when they automatically turn on and off and I’m sad to say they are too loud to have in your bedroom overnight. They are BRILLIANT at getting rid of moisture and I have 2 in my Victorian mid terrace. One upstairs, outside the bathroom and one in the lounge. I don’t know how much they cost to run but I hate damp and so overall they are value for money. I will only buy Ebac- don’t bother with the other brands- I’ve tried them all. One lasted 1 year to the day and was out of warranty so cost me a fortune. My oldest Ebac is nearly 2.5 years old. They are not cheap but the walls in my house are dry and the smell of damp old homes is banished.Read full review...

Looks good, extracts well, good value, would recommend.
This is my second unit, the first still working well after 8 yrs. Build quality is good but weight and move ability a little on the high side for the elderly, one handed pick-up is difficult.
Suggest castors should be included in the price, a spare filter, recessed handles on both sides and a reduction in fan noise should be achieved. I use both my units with external timers and my initial purchase works ok but the new unit always reverts to smart mode with high fan speed, in my case not quite as successful but a great machine at a sensible price nevertheless.Read full review...

Excellent dehumidifier
I already have one of this model which stays in the conservatory where the dogs sleep.
I bought another one for the rest of the bungalow. Although well heated black mould was growing on the walls.......since cavity wall insulation was put in!!
It is amazing the amount of liquid it draws out of the air. It is also very quiet. I am very sensitive to noise but this is extremely quiet.
I recommend it!Read full review...

Ebac dehumidifier
The dehumidifier is great for drying my laundry, but it could be a bit quieter. It would also be better if you could fit wheels to it, so that it would be easier to move around, and that is why the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.

Great for helping laundry to dry!
Ebac 6000 series:
More cost efficient than a dryer. We use a pay go meter and I was able to track how much we spent leaving the unit running over night. It only used about 55p (from about 10p-9a) on the highest setting! Easy to empty water tank, although cleaning it is a bit tricky as the nails are in difficult to reach spots. Very useful piece of kit. Would very much recommend. Read full review...

Collects a lot of water
Great does it's job. Not loud, but you do hear it. Easy to empty. Holds a lot of water. The only down side is it's extremely heavy, if I want to move it to different rooms.
