Good deal
Well made machine. I have used it three time. And like how easy it starts. I will use it only with LP. It is a little louder then I was expecting. But you can still talk at close to a normal level. It comes well packaged. And includes everything you need to put it together. Even has a funnel to put the oil in with. But you must purchase the oil separately. I have not used it, but it is nice that you can charge 12 volt batteries with it.Read full review

Best Bang for Your Buck Generator
This DuroMax XP4850EH generator is the best deal for a generator of this size and output that uses both propane or gasoline. I got it on sale for $299 and free shipping. It took only one week from ordering to be delivered to my house. The generator was packed very well. Make sure you check all the spaces of the generator for the manual, additional plugs, propane hose, parts kit, and tool kit. You have to remove a block of wood inside the generator frame and remove a orange blocking brace which was easy. The wheels and handles were easy to install. The directions can read a little weird/off in certain places, but you can decipher it. Make sure you fill it with 20 ounces of 10W30 oil before you run it. They give you a funnel with a hose that makes filling the hard to reach oil fill hole. Also ensure that you connect the positive end of the battery cable, as it is disconnected for shipping from the factory. I ran this on propane for around 30 mins to break it in. I attached a battery charge will I ran the break-in period to put a load on it. I plan on only running this on propane to avoid draining gasoline when not in use and gumming up the carbuerator with old gas. If you do decide to use propane, the running watts are only 3250 and the surge watts are 4150. This does not bother me as what I purchased this for (mainly emergency power for refrigerator, deep freezer, and misc household needs) will most likely not draw more than the propane wattage. Even if my energy needs to exceed that I can switch to gasoline if I need too. I am not sure what the sound deciebels actually are, but I can tell you that it was running about 10-12ft from my living room window and I could hardly hear it in silence and not over normal T.V noise. All in all I believe this to be a great generator for the price that uses duel fuel and the wattage. I cannot comment on durability as I have only ran it to break it in so far. I think that if you keep up on the maintenance that this generator should run without a problem for thousands of hours. The construction of the generator seems solid and its small enough to be very mobile. For the price of $299 and free shipping its worth it, especially of you have a power outage that lasts more than 48 hours. The food you will lose in your fridge may equal the cost of the generator. My advise to any purchaser, unpack it carefully, read all the directions, take or time assembling it, and run it on propane only if possible.Read full review

Very Affordable Back - Up
I've only ran Generator for an hour to break it in. So far so good. It arrived ahead of schedule. Follow the instruction and it's easy to assemble. Started first time off propane. Love that option. After being without power for a week after Hurricane Irma, this was a no brainer. Wish I had purchased it a year ago. The generator is not fancy but does the job. Ran mid-size window AC, 2 fans, lights and a TV without a problem. I feel much better prepared going into this hurricane season.Read full review

Haven't yet had need to really put it to test.
I'm disappointed it did not come with a voltage conditioner as I had to cough up another 100 dollars to purchase one. I bet one could have been built in the unit for only a few more bucks, lots less than 100. I failed to become aware that it needed one when buying only when reading the fine print on the generator did I become aware that it needed one to power electronics such as microwaves, stoves, computers, etc. Just about all house hold appliances have electronics in them these days.
The generator is quite, light, and easy to move around. I like the inclusion of the twist lock plug.Read full review

Excellent for planned use
great little generator. It is enough power for my sump pumps, well pump, refrigerators and freezer while running on propane (which is much cleaner than gasoline, much lower maintenance, and handy, too).
I am going to be installing a manual transfer switch so that with one plug I will be able to run all of the above plus my furnace and garage door openers. I only buy energy efficient products (my furnace total draw is 70 watts for a 50,000 but unit) so I can run all essentials loads from this limited output machine.
Being efficient is a way to do something about climate disruption . 2¢Read full review

Better than expected
Received the generator the day before shipping promised. Well packaged with no dents or scratches. All parts were in the box, but could be difficult to find if you don’t look inside the frame of the generator. Ensure all shipping blocks are removed. Filled with oil, connected the negative cable to battery, gave the pull start a couple slow pulls to move oil around, connected propane, and started from battery. Ran 1 hour with no load then changed oil. Lots of metallic flakes as expected with new small engines. Refilled oil then ran for 10 hours during a hurricane. No issues and used almost a 20lb bottle of propane in 11 hours. Changed the oil after power was restored and little metal this time. Installed a hour meter from the dc charger lugs ran wire behind the control panel and mounted to frame. Recommended to my friends and would buy again.Read full review

Best Deal Out There and We've Been Looking for Over a Year
Just returned from a 4 day camping trip. The reason we bought this generator was to be able to run AC, microwave, etc in our small travel trailer. Worked like a champ. Fairly quiet. (You can carry on a conversation next to it without shouting.) We still have to get the plug configuration to run off the 30 amp circuit; however, the 20 amp worked out ok for us. Another camper had a generator that was super quiet. They paid a couple thousand and we paid less than $300. For us this is a no-brainer. The dual fuel option is nice, but we will never run gasoline. We have been searching/researching propane generators for well over a year and this is without a doubt the best deal going. This opens up a lot of camping options for us we didn't have before. It also came complete (battery for the electric start, wheel kit). The only thing we bought was 30 weight oil and propane. Lots of others charge extra for the wheel kit and you're on your own for a battery. Shipping was free, too and it arrived ahead of schedule.
If you're looking for a propane generator you really need to check this out. We've not found anything close to this.Read full review

Great generator, and versatile.
I have used this generator in many ways.
During power outages, it has enough power to run my well, furnace, lights, internet. I have propane furnace, and stove.
I had my propane company run a second line from my tank so I can let it run without having to fill with gasoline, or change portable propane tanks.
I wired a connection into my home, so outdoors next to generator, I can just hook up the 220V connection, flip a couple breakers, and I am good to go. Many generators under 5000W don't have a 220 volt output, just a 110 volt output. This has both 110 and 220.
I also use this camping. It powers my camper without any problems. Propane allows me to not have to carry gasoline to camp.
I built a pole barn this year. It powered my air compressor for the air powered nail gun just fine. It also was enough power to run the cement mixer for the footings, etc.
I have read a couple reviews on here saying people have had trouble getting it to run on either gas, or propane. I can only suspect they didn't read all the directions. If you have been using one fuel type, and change to the other, you have to do some things, like turn the gasoline valve. You also have to use the choke properly. And when hooking up propane, you can't use a propane bottle that already has a regulator on it. This unit has its own pressure regulator, and has to be direct to the bottle. Also, another important thing is when switching to propane, you need to "bleed" or "prime" the line by pressing bleed valve on top of the regulator on generator.
I have only had one issue with this generator. After about a year, the plastic gasoline line from tank to valve leaked. It was a simple repair to replace the line. I took the original line to auto parts store and got a piece of line the same size.
Used properly, this is a great generator.Read full review

Backup power generator for emergencies:
I have used the generator very little so far, and that was only on propane. It started easy and ran well. It is noisier than I thought it might be, certainly more than my 3000 Watt Honda. I have not run it on gas yet, but this gives me the capability, when on propane, to park it on our covered deck when the power goes off to keep heat and lights on with not nearly the danger of fumes from a gas powered generator in the same location. One tire had a bad flat spot in it, "thumps" as I roll it along, but not that big a deal. Seems like a good option so far, as the gas/diesel option also gives me some flexibility.Read full review

Diverse, eco friendly and powerful
This is just what I needed to get my remote project started. I like the fact that it runs on clean burning propane, and if that runs out I can use gasoline until a refill is available. I've only use it once, so far, but it had plenty of power to run my saw and a drop light. This summer, I'll get a chance to put it to the test with an A/C unit and other power tools.Read full review
