A perfect addition for your Dremel Drill

The Dremel drill systems are fantastically useful bits of kit, which with the various add-on tools give makes them very versatile. The one area that can quickly become a chore, is the changing of the collets and bits which involves the use of a locking mechanism, a spanner and a range of suitably sized collets.

This little chuck makes this process simple and removes the need to keep switching collets meaning that tool swaps can be done quickly and without the need for a spanner.

I think maybe I had a bad example

Seems like a good idea, looks well made but when fitted it is slightly eccentric and causes the tip of the bits to oscillate which due to the high speeds the rotary tool runs at make it vibrate to the point where it is unusable certainly for drills or detailed work, may be ok for polishing or wire brushing.
The supplier was great and just refunded. Maybe I was just unlucky and had an out of spec unit.

Quality meets convenience

This device does away with colletts is easy to use and saves precious time.
A word of warning- I purchase one of these chucks from China and it was useless and sent back for refund. As far as I know this is genuine Dremel, correct thread size and made of quality materials.
Highly recommended.

Versatility

Makes the Dremel much more versatile and flexible. To a large degree this chuck can replace the collet system but I would still recommend keeping the collet system and their locking collar supplied with the Dremel tool in a safe place.
BEWARE of a lot of the nearly identical chucks being supplied from Far East, they simply do not have the same thread. They are a lot cheaper but what's the use of they don't fit??? Buy the branded Dremel chuck for use on a branded Dremel, else you'll get a lot of grief.

Great, and opens wider than my previous one

These chucks are great for using small (cheap) constant diameter drill bits, or other nonstandard diameter tools.
I bought one years ago, and just got another one after buying a mains-powered Dremel for things my cordless one can't deal with.
With my old chuck, the only minus point was that it only opened up just wide enough for standard-diameter Dremel tools, and over time it got slightly tighter, making fitting some tools difficult, but the new one opens significantly wider. so that shouldn't be an issue.

Very handy and useful addition to my Dremel 8200 Cordless Multitool

The 4486 Multi Chuck is quick and easy to use plus it accommodates slightly larger drill bits than the standard chuck fitted to the Dremel 8200 Multitool.
Verdict - well worth buying.

All in one

It does away with having to change mandrills for smaller bits etc saves time undoing the ends with the spanner.

Should be standard.

Considering the high cost of Dremel drills, this should be part of the basic kit. Drills with parallel shanks could then be supplied which would I think, more than repay the cost. It does the job and greatly enhances the versatility and convenience. Since getting it I have scarcely used the collets.Read full review

Replacement chuck

The Dremel standard fit collet has a tendency to jam to the extent that I had to drill it out. I was on the point of buying a new Dremel when I saw this replacement. Easy to fit, holds the tool shaft without overtightening, it's made by Dremel and should have been fitted in the first place. Recommended.Read full review

Dremel with or without a Multi Chuck

If you buy Dremel the Multi Chuck 4486 is the first accessory you need.
Dremel need to make it part of the machine not an accessory but I suppose that's how they make their money. From experience be aware of traders advertising 'multi chuck for dremel' and then supplying a chuck that is over size answer doesn't fit. If it's not in a Dremel bubble pack don't buy it.
Chuck occasionally blocks up with dust, etc., WD40 does the trick.

Dremel multi chuck

Great product. Very useful for all those smaller drill bits that are too small to fit in the original chuck that came will my dremel 3000. Very easy to fit too.
