Excellent performance that works in a standard MM Phonostage
The DL-110 is one of the best performing cartridges in it's pricerange and for under $200 it's a steal. The high output moving coil motor, 0.1 x 0.2mm special elliptical stylus profile and composite aluminum cantilever reproduce the music with finesse and yet remains very detailed and dynamic. The high output considering the MC internals allows it to get up to volume on a standard MM phono output stage, just below standard MM carts and generally achieves 2.0mV+ outputs despite the manufacturer rating. Due to the diamond stylus shape, it's an excellent tracker and rejects much of the surface noise, pops and clicks when properly aligned and weighted and stays well in the groove. It works excellently with heavier tonearms like those found on Japanese tables as well as medium mass tonearms from personal experience. I've read reports of it working nicely in lighter weight tonearms as well. It's a classic like it's well known and respected predecessors the DL-160 and DL-103 and comes highly recommended!Read full review

Denon DL-110
The DL-110 is as some say a giant killer, this is a great cartridge; tracks well, sounds stage, depth, imagery, height (line source speakers), punch low bass, crystalline highs, and a flat response, maybe to the point of sterile but it adds nothing to the music but what the artist wanted to share. I now have (3), one playing and two backups. This replaced the DL-301mkII, which is also a great cartridge, but I think the DL-110 better in my system because to the lower record surface noise level. My amp's S/N is -121 db, phono's preamp S/N is -96 db, and preamp is -116 db. Oh, also in my set-up it equals the sound of an SACD.Read full review

Hear what your records are hiding in their grooves!
I ordered this cartridge as a spare. I currently have a DL-110 in use, and it's clearly one of the best sounding cartridges I've ever used. The only thing that topped it, but by a very small amount, was the now-discontinued DL-160, which I also have. The difference between the two is in the stylus geometry, but the difference in sound is slight.
The DL-110 is a moving coil cartridge. Traditionally, these cartridges have a much lower output than the more-common moving magnet types. The 110, however, is a high-output moving coil, which means it's fully compatible with standard magnetic phono inputs. No step-up device is needed. You still retain the major benefit of a moving coil cartridge, which is a more open, more detailed sound. If there is a downside, it's that the stylus is not user-replaceable. That said, it's important to keep the stylus guard flipped down when installing the cartridge. Denon also includes an alignment gauge, for optimizing the cartridge for proper tracking angle. Tracking force is 1.5 to 2.1 grams, with optimum at 1.8 grams.
Once this cartridge is installed, you're ready to hear some detailed, crisp, clear sound from your records. It's apparent right away, but will get better as the cartridge breaks in. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Read full review

Rare Gem of a cartridge
I read reviews prior to buying and I bought it based on user testimonials. This cart makes music unlike I have heard from any cartridge I tried in the past. This HO MC Cart can change your life and prior opinion of music players. I will not miss CDs. Vocals shine clearly in a busy mix. Not shrill, bright or muddy. Instruments can be heard clearly but they fit in the mix. Open, airy, 3D, clear and natural are words that come to mind. Buy one and take the time to set it up. Thank me later!Read full review

I thank myself every time I listen!
Struggled with buying this; it is my first MC cartridge and was a tad more than I wanted to pay and other brands (ortofon for one) have MM cartridges that get the rave reviews for less. I have been using Audio Technica and Grado primarily on an AT table and an older Sansui table. Setup was easy and once I played it I could not believe what I was now hearing that the Audio Technica and Grado totally missed! Better detail, a clearer soundstage, no noise, just better everything. I would gladly buy this one again!Read full review

Great sound, but read up first.
Cartridge arrived with good instructions, a brush, loupe, and an aux weight.
This cartridge is pretty low compliance, and really sensitive to alignment. If you’re not sure your turntable will support these things, read up first. Also expect to need an alignment template and a couple hours to set up correctly.
Once you do that however, the sound is really great. Highly recommend.Read full review

Denon DL-110 after a month
I recently returned to my vinyl collection and the Denon DL-110 was a great addition to my Denon turntable. I was extra careful with the install and setup. The payoff is a great sound for a modest investment. I did not need a separate turntable amp so that was a plus for my budget.

If I needed another cartridge for my turntable, the Denon DL-110 would be the first choice for me.

One tip: this included a weight for helping to balance the weight of the tone arm. I did not install it so I had to dial in the counter weight. I may redo this with that installed for a better overall installation as per design.Read full review

Great value, great sound
The Denon cartridge was recommended to me by a local stereo repair shop, over several other higher priced cartridges (Ortofon, Sumiko, Grado) and I think they were giving me great advice.
The unit was super easy to attach to the tone arm of my ProJect RM5 and get aligned correctly. The Cambridge TT Preamp is set to MM and the output of the Denon appears to be a good match at that setting (rather than setting it to a MC position).Read full review

Buy 2 of 'em.
Whether you are an old school vinyl addict or just venturing into "records," do yourself a big favor and treat yourself to this amazing high output moving coil cartridge! Needs a little break-in but after a few hours you'll know when it's ready to play every record in your collection...over and over again! Remember, make sure your table is absolutely level and cartridge is adjusted correctly(download free Fluance alignment gauge and follow the instructions(I printed mine on non-glossy side of photo print paper) set both tracking & anti-skating from 1.75 to 1.80 and voila!! U R rockin!!!Read full review

Denon DL-110 - best valueDeno MC cartridge
Denon has a long history of excellent cartridges in a reasonable price range. It started with the DL-103 (still available). But the DL-110 High Output Moving Coil model is a true winner for anyone needing to have a phono cartridge that will work with MM inputs on your integrated amp or preamp --- no need for a stepup transformer. Also, I found it works particularly on Rega tonearms!Read full review
