The DVP-5000S (Visual Presence 2.0) arrived 10 days ago. I was considering an Oppo blu-ray player with the Darbee technology, but this saved me well over $1000.00 and with allow use of the Darbee enhancement with all my components by placing it inline on the display input from my receiver/amp. My screen is a 65" Panasonic Vierra Plasma TV, which i have always been happy with. The Darbee unit installs inline with the included HDMI cable. The effect range is 0-120. I run it at a level of 65. The increase in detail is astounding, the color is more vibrant (not over tuned), and there is an almost 3D effect adding dimensionality and depth to my picture. The detail easily visible on faces and all objects in the picture is impressive. I have not used the gaming mode. I have not experienced any artifacts in image, but I personally found that levels above 70 had an artificial look. I am sure this varies with display and individual preference. The unit is small and unobtrusive. The the installation and use is intuitive with minimal instructions, although the Darbeevision website has an extensive amount of information. It works OK but don't expect miracles.

Helps to enhance HD video not so much with standard def. I have an 8 year old DVDO EDGE video enhancer that does a better job on HD and a much better job on Standard Def. than the Darby unit. I'll keep the darby for a second TV. It's better than nothing.Read full review

For the perfectionist who has the best tv in the world.

My take is that the device slightly sharpens the picture more on my
65EF9500 LG 4K OLED television....the best in the world.... so I use it on the cable tv line. Perhaps it also increases a sense of depth to the picture which the company claims. For $200 no tax or shipping cost, this perfectionist is glad to have bought it after seeing it displayed

Great for non 4K

I am familiar with Darbee, had the original, also have an OPPO BDP-105D with it included. Not yet ready to Upgrade our Basement 70" Sony XBR to 4K that we paid a fortune for, so I put this in between My Pre-amp and receiver.....and like with the Oppo, it works as it says, clears up images, shows more depth, and I have found about 60% is ideal on my setup, 40% on HDTV through Comcast X1. Running the test mode splitting the screen shows friends how much it does help, will get you about as close as possible to 4K until you upgrade. I also use a 2M True Audioquest Carbon HDMI from my Preamp to Darbee, then a 1M Carbon to the TV. (Good cables do help also)Read full review

It works!

This does exactly what the demos show. I use it for everything, set to HD mode at 85%. My display is a 55" Sony Bravia 4k, and the Darbee makes a nice improvement. It sharpens up older TV and movies, and adds a nice "pop" to new HD content.Read full review

Although the Darbee affect is subtle in my opinion, I think that I just postponed my 4K TV purchase by upgrading the picture on my 1080P TV.

Works the way I wanted it to.

Was looking to add some sharpness to a projector that I found a little soft with no sharpness option. This doesn't really add sharpness as much as does some post processing of the signal to refine the detail. The bottom line is it works the way I wanted it to.Read full review
