Daiwa SL20SH Sealine Salt Water Reel

Awesome fishing multiplier reel at a great price!

I have had Daiwa multipliers before, the millionaire was great but I needed something just slightly bigger. I have chosen the Slosh 20 and when it arrived it was better than I though, very smooth bearings, nice click, great line tension adjuster. I used it first time this week of Dunwich beach, I did a short cast to begin with, adjusted tension and did a very long cast, finger slightly on the line to avoid bird nest. AwesomeRead full review

Brilliant but takes some getting used to.

I must stress this to others who have not used a multiplier like this. This model has no line guide.Only bait runners have line guides. When retrieving the line, you must use your thumb to help reel the line evenly on the spool. When casting out, use your thumb as a brake when the weight hits the water or you'll have a birds nest.
The movement is very smooth and the reel is sturdy.The spool and body being made of graphite makes the reel feel a little lighter than those made from other materials. It casts a great distance too! There is an option to fit a mag kit to help with braking and suffer less bird nesting if you wish.
All in all, a great reel that is an all rounder in my book. Just be prepared for a learning curve if you are used to fixed spool or multiplier bait runners.Read full review

A classic fishing reel

A classic reel design that still cuts it years after hitting the market, the Slosh is a bit of a wild stallion in casting terms, though centrifugal brakes help keep it in check enough for most, and after market mag kits are available for retro fitting. Lack of an instant anti reverse roller bearing does make it feel a bit noisy and dated but if you are looking for a no frills reel that will cast miles, has a super smooth drag and can handle both beach and uptide work for fish up to maybe 50lb then you won't go far wrong with this.Read full review

Quality assesment

Build quality is excellent, Not sure yet whether the brake system is good or not ,this is my first multiplier and am not sure if the brake is doing anything .I still got the makings of birds nesting when practice casting in a field, i've fitted the red brake blocks and will try again, but not confident as yet ,A more detailed instruction leaflet would be an advantage as the one included was pretty basic.Read full review
