Excellent performance for its price!

Lightweight surf reels are not available here in Australia - not unless you want to spend upwards of $400 - and not all of us can afford that! Anything cheaper is usually a heavy clunker - too heavy to hold for an extended beach session.
Daiwa's long cast reels are legendary - and landing one here, for less than $100, is very attractive - and so far, the reel has proved ideal. Not too heavy, less ball bearings to clog up with sand, generous line capacity and a silky smooth drag.
Other choices would be a Shimano big baitrunner, (250g heavier), or Daiwa's Procargo or Surf Basia, ($250 and $300 dearer).
Considering I've saved well over $300 on a local purchase, I can also live with the 100g weight penalty!

As always with Daiwa great value & superb quality. Purchased the reel to match the DAIWA SEAHUNTER Z SPIN 10' 2PC 1-3OZ. Great combination. Looking forward to summer sea fishing :-)
