very good but..........
I'm a big fan of cyrus stuff. I think that the Cyrus one vs3 is still one of the best amps ever made due to it's relentless enthusiasm. Several cyrus cd players later, i still use a cd7q and love it. I've tried several of their amps too, however none have delivered that big grin the old 'one' managed so effortlessly. But now I'd decided to try integrating a sub into my system so i needed an amp with pre-out and big current reserves. Enter the 8vs2. It has a lot going for it, easilly driving anything to neighbour bothering levels, composure and plenty of detail, and a sense of effortless poise. The soundstage is ridiculously holographic and in some ways here begin it's flaws. Initially that enveloping blanket of sound surprises and pleases, but then starts to sound artificial, almost processed. Then you notice that it is missing very subtle detail and timing cues. I guess my problem is that my other amplification is all NVA gear, which misses absolutely nothing and sounds utterly natural, it is a little underpowered though compared to the cyrus. The 8vs2 is a keeper for sure, it's a very capable amp and is easy to like. If i had never heard the NVA gear I would not be able to find fault with it. The old vs3 Cyrus One is going nowhere either.Read full review

Poor controls but great sound
No control of levels. Even basic base-treble
Unit looks smart but remote is huge and ugly
I use a central control system for turning on off. With all my other systems no problem. With this i am forced to get the remote, turn on then hold volume control for about 5 seconds to find correct volume for my room. Very time consuming and frustrating which is a shame as sounds great :)Read full review

cyrus 8sv2
one of the best amplifiers ever made.it has all the elements that a true audiophile amplifier is all about. despite his modest power, its architecture allows it to drive difficult speakers at very enjoyable levels.highly recommend and the end of the road if you want to invest in your music and you are done investing in gear.Read full review

Love it: very clear
I replaced a NAD amp with this and am absolutely delighted.
Be aware that if you have cheaper budget CD player it will expose all the flaws of the complexity and latency of the transport and dac etc. I'm using this amp with a dedicated DAC connected to a streaming rasberry PI (with volumio installed) and all my CDs ripped to lossless FLAC on a NAS: the improvement in quality over playing the CDs directly is incredible.
Required a bit of time to warm up before use....when it come alive.Read full review
