I have used many can openers in my time but this has to be the best one I have ever come across. It’s easy to hold, stylish, small enough to store and easy to clean. As I get older I find it harder to use some of these devices and my patience wears thin! The Culinare Magican is like using a hot knife to butter. Quality control and standards feel like they've been missed at MagiCan

I bought one of these over 10 years ago and it finally opened its last can on Sunday. As it was such a decent one, I decided to replace it with what I thought was like for like.

How wrong I was. The feel of the opener is of a cheap flimsy plastic as opposed to a strong comfortable feel. It's a lot smaller than the previous model. Feels like it's going to snap when you latch it onto a tin and doesn't feel secure either.

Opens tins on the side so while you get a smooth lid, the remaining edge of the tin is sharp. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. I guess it depends on your preferences for your old tins.

Not as good as the old style

My original Culinare finally stopped working , I’d had this tin opener for 10 years and it was my mums before that so thought I’d buy the same brand/style again. Wish I hadn’t …. This is really flimsy and wouldn’t open a can of dog food without having to go round three times.
So if you need a cheap tin opener that may work occasionally then buy this. If you want a tin opener that actually opens tins then don’t bother.Read full review

The Culinare is the best can opener I have ever used, and i bought this one for my son, moving into his own flat, as i had been so pleased with mine. The design is excellent and it makes opening cans so easy. !00% successful every time. It has a smooth action, requires little effort and it is easy to dispose of the lid once cut. This has to be the worst can opener we have ever had as it just will not open any cans ! Tried with several different cans and it will not open cans as it says in all the adverts. There is no way that this is the best can opener on current sales. Do not buy it.
