Much easier to mount and wire up - if your existing cable is long enough

The Crabtree shower switch is a much better design than the standard “wire the switch before pushing on to the mounting box” style. This one you fix to the ceiling so you have both hands for getting the wires into the terminals.

A couple of things to watch for though. The outer sheathing has to be stripped back to around 110mm which is a fair bit more than needed to fit a standard switch. If you can’t pull more through the ceiling you will have to run another cable. I found that out the hard way! Secondly - If the mounting position is close to a wall make sure you can reach all terminal screws with a screwdriver when in situ.Read full review

A great item!

Superior quality 50A pull switch. Fitted recently to resolve shower electric supply overheating problem. So far, so good, and very smooth ‘click’ action. Only issues are that it is round (with own built in base plate), so will not fit onto a more conventional square box, and with only 2 (opposing) screw fittings (supposed to be fixed to a narrow wooden joist), and then makes it a bit limited to some applications and then requires some ‘creative’ adaptation to fit securely to a ceiling mounted installation. Great quality, but a bit ‘fiddly’ to fit! ... 8.5 out of 10, but would be 10/10 if 4 securing points OR square base with 4 corner fixing points.Read full review

Good Quality

It pays to spend a bit more on articles like this.
The switch is quite large and feels well made, and there is plenty of room for 2 x 10mm cables.
You do need patience when fitting the cables however as this size cable is difficult to manipulate.
A further earth connector the opposite side to the one fitted and having a larger aperture would make it easier to fit the two earth conductors.

Replacement

This was a replacement switch, the previous one was broken due to normal wear and tear. It would have been easier to fit if the original one had been fitted correctly, otherwise OK
